Global warming behind mysterious kidney disease, says research

New York: A mysterious kidney disease that has killed over 20,000 people in Central America since 2002, and now spreading to other countries including India, may be caused by chronic, severe dehydration linked to global climate change, says a new study.

"This could be the first epidemic directly caused by global warming," said one of the researchers Richard Johnson, professor of medicine at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in the US.

The study was published in the the American Journal of Kidney Diseases.

Climate Change Haunts This Year's Pumpkin Crop

Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner (R) signed a bill in August making pumpkin pie the official state pie. But climate change -- which Rauner has not publicly acknowledged is a thing -- may be a big part of the reason that some Thanksgiving tables lack the holiday classic this year.

The canned food industry expects pumpkin yields to be down by as much as half for 2015 due to high rainfall this summer in Illinois, where 85 percent of pumpkins consumed in the U.S. are grown. This year's pumpkins are likely to be gone after Halloween.

Rainfall in Illinois has increased by about 10 percent to 15 percent over the past century, according to state climatologist Jim Angel. Scientists have linked major precipitation events like the June rains to rising surface temperatures, which are caused by burning fossil fuels.

Think about it the crazy loonies in California are whining about running out of water, but don't seem to care that California is a huge pecan growing area.

Hurricanes are just part of the South Carolina environment. The predicated path of a Hurricane is based climate models that have been tested over time. Even then the weather guys admit its a crap shoot with a hurricane path. Its been this way for decades. People understand this and take measures. The last hurricane was not a fluke nor was it caused by climate change. They have had it this bad before. Long before the Climate Change Harpies came on the scene.

Before someone gets wound up and saying "but.. but... Obama warned us. True this was a Thousand year flood level. Geologist knew this from hard evidence of past flooding. They did not use a computer model with supposition.

The list of scientist jumping the Climate Change ship will grow.

Back to the Cartoon. Pretty insensitive and down right disgusting to me that this pinhead cartoonist drew this while a few million people are suffering at no fault of there own.

Most Yankees have an elitist attitude when it comes to the south. There so f ng smart. I bet secretly you cant stand yourself sometimes Pete.

Why are so many Yankees fleeing to the south? Because they cant fix what they have screwed up so royally in Yankee land. Great! I moved to the South 46 years ago, before it was popular to do so. I don't welcome them here. Nothing good will come of it!

It is laughable that the climate scientists can't predict hurricanes but they predict global warming with certainty. Their excuse? Weather and climate are incredibly complex, influenced by sea, air, land, and the sun. It is therefore no surprise that predicting the track of a hurricane, considered weather as it is short-term, is quite challenging and often wrong until the storm is almost upon them.

Each line represents a different prediction based on a particular computer model. Each model analyzes different types of data, with different weights assigned to this data, hence the variability.

The Weather Channel forecast below looks like a plate of spaghetti, with storm tracks aimed everywhere along the East coast, and some heading out to sea.

So which is it? Where is the hurricane going to hit?

Weather is happening tomorrow or next week. Climate is happening decades from now. If short term predictions are so difficult, why would long term predictions be easier and more certain?

How ironic that a hurricane, representing a clear and present danger to millions of people, is so unpredictable and that’s OK.

Hurricane Joaquim did head out to sea, and no one was called a “hurricane denier” when the majority of forecasts predicted landfall which clearly was wrong. The global warming pause has lasted for more than 18 years without explanation from climate experts of why their forecast are wrong. Instead, all those who believe the climate forecasts over reality are calling those pointing out history global warming deniers. Funny. Clearly political, but funny.
