What is commonly called evolution is really adaptation. In Darwin's case of the finches, they adapted. They didn't change from finches to gorillas. They were finches before and after.

The most important point of the study was,

that it got published on the internet.

Because if you notice, almost a day does not go by that a new global warming story is not published to Yahoo, Bloomberg the LA Times or the Daily Mail, among other widely read publications.

So when you have to have a story every single day, eventually you run out of stories and wind up with silly ones.

I'm waiting for the study that the wind did not blow in New Hampshire today because of global warming.

I'm also wondering if there was a glut of scientists that needed something to study, so this global warming thing has become a government jobs creation project, boosting college enrollment and keeping highly educated people off of the unemployment rosters.

Some hard truths of life is that thin ice melts faster than thick ice. We have been warming up since the ice age. If we all committed suicide today, the earth would continue to warm up, as that is the path the earth has been on for millions of years. The earth is still healing from the catastrophe that caused the ice age. We will have to adapt or die, because that is the way the world works. It cares not if you're cute or ugly, healthy or sickly, rich or poor. Adapt to your environment, not the other way round. Government's don't like that. They are large in charge and make everything adapt to them, so this is just one more power folly to prove their God like status to themselves, mandating the rest of us get on board because they say so, and they have the power to change the heaven and earth and will prove that to us. It's all not really that much different than ancient stories of God like rules of ancient mythology.

China to Announce Cap-and-Trade Program to Limit Emissions

WASHINGTON — President Xi Jinping of China will make a landmark commitment on Friday to start a national program in 2017 that will limit and put a price on greenhouse gas emissions, Obama administration officials said Thursday.

The move to create a so-called cap-and-trade system would be a substantial step by the world’s largest polluter to reduce emissions from major industries, including steel, cement, paper and electric power.

The announcement, to come during a White House summit meeting with President Obama, is part of an ambitious effort byChina and the United States to use their leverage internationally to tackle climate change and to pressure other nations to do the same.

Under a cap-and-trade system, a concept created by American economists, governments place a cap on the amount of carbon pollution that may be emitted annually. Companies can then buy and sell permits to pollute. Western economists have long backed the idea as a market-driven way to push industry to cleaner forms of energy, by making polluting energy more expensive.

Last week, Chinese officials met in Los Angeles with top environmental officials from California, which has enacted an aggressive cap-and-trade program. People who attended the talks said they were meant to pave the way for a possible linkage of the Chinese and California cap-and-trade systems.

I question the political motives of imposing such a cost burden on its economy during a time when China's economy is shrinking because of falling exports. Is this cap and trade announcement a concession and appeasement to countries like the U.S. and Europe that have hobbled their economies? The enforcement is internal, not external, you know, like Iran doing its own inspections to guarantee the rest of the world that it is complying with limits it agreed to on producing enriched uranium in exchange for $100's of billions and lifting of trade sanctions.

Canada: Mulcair mum on cap-and-trade cost

It’s a simple question and the fact NDP Leader Tom Mulcair won’t answer it speaks volumes.

How much will his plan to impose a national cap-and-trade carbon pricing scheme on Canadians cost?

The late Jack Layton, former NDP leader, gave an answer to voters in his 2011 campaign.

He said it would increase government revenues by $21.5 billion over four years.

In Ontario, where Premier Kathleen Wynne will introduce cap-and-trade in 2017, government bureaucrats have pegged the cost at up to $2 billion annually, which Ontarians will see in higher prices for most goods and services.

Finally, Mulcair himself has talked in the past about how cap-and-trade would bring in billions of dollars in new government revenues for the NDP, without citing a specific number.

Indeed, cap-and-trade appears to be one of the major revenue sources Mulcair plans to use to pay for his expensive campaign promises, such as one million, publicly-subsidized daycare spaces costing parents $15 a day.

Asked about it on the campaign trail, Mulcair’s answer was a study in gobbledygook about attending yet another United Nations meeting on climate change in Paris later this year and promising to work with the provinces.

But no reference to the costs.

Mulcair described cap-and-trade as “the best way of ensuring that there is a guaranteed reduction” of industrial greenhouse gas emissions, which is not supported by real-world evidence.

The largest cap-and-trade market in the world, Europe’s decade old Emissions Trading Scheme, has been an abject failure.

All it did was raise electricity and other consumer prices across Europe, while its impact on emissions has been insignificant.

That’s in part because the market is overrun with fraudulent carbon credits, for which no actual reduction in greenhouse gas emissions occurred.

To be sure, Mulcair isn’t the only Canadian political leader to propose cap-and-trade.

Aside from Layton, former Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff also ran on it in the 2011 election and Harper proposed it during the 2008 campaign, when it looked like the Americans were about to do it as well.

So it’s not a new concept. Even Mulcair ought to be able to give a straight answer by now.

Europe's cap and trade has not reduced emissions but it has driven up prices throughout the economy. It is all about free money to the government with businesses to collect it for using energy.
