California governor to sign aggressive climate change bill

LOS ANGELES (AP) — California is doubling down in its fight against global warming.

Gov. Jerry Brown is expected on Wednesday to sign an ambitious climate change measure to increase California's renewable electricity use to 50 percent and double energy efficiency in existing buildings by 2030.

"We have the technological means and now we have the legal mandate to reduce carbon pollution," Brown said in a statement after the Legislature approved the bill, SB350, last month.

The governor began the year with a proposal for the state to set the most aggressive greenhouse-gas emissions benchmark in North America. He discussed global warming concerns with the pope at the Vatican in July and met with other leaders around the world on the issue.

After previous environmental efforts, California is already on target to generate at least a third of its electricity from renewable sources by 2020.

Some Republicans expressed disappointment that the bill won't count homeowners who have installed rooftop solar panels toward the 50 percent renewable goal. "We should not be excluding the 200,000 Californians who are doing their part to make clean energy a reality," said Assemblyman Brian Jones, R-Santee.

Changing the law where rooftop solar solar panels are not credited to meet the goal means there is no incentive for utilities to buy their excess power. That means net metering goes away.

Paying higher prices is worthy for saving the planet from global warming. No one escapes, unless they move.

forget the government, what about the vast majority of the scientific community--those not in the pocket of the Koch brothers or companies who benefit from fouling the atmosphere!

So Terrell points out that the six hottest years have been in the past 100+ years. Hmmmm! What can you deny about that fact?

It is now indisputable that the unaltered satellite data shows no global warming for the last 18 years, even the IPCC has acknowledged it, apparently you didn't see the president of the Sierra Club dodge the issue, I think he should have been held in contempt of Congress.

At this time Christiana Figueres the executive secretary of U.N.'s Framework Convention on Climate Change, admitted that the goal of environmental activists is not to save the world from ecological calamity but to destroy capitalism.¹

Yes. When comparing 100th degrees C difference, it means nothing since the accuracy is plus or minus 10 times that level of reporting. But you would believe anything that came from the government.

Let me make the comparison for you. You have a yard stick. Your challenge is to measure a length of road every day of the year at 12 noon that has been previously measured to be 1 mile long. When measuring, you must also record the temperature with a standard outdoor thermometer.

You average the temperature recordings. You average the distance recordings.

The temperature average is 26.67 degrees C. Your average distance is 1,760.55 yards.

You compare that to last years and declare global warming because both averages are higher than last year by 0.1 in both measured variables, a new record high.

Oh stop.

We have to have global warming.

If we don't have global warming, there will be no need of alternative fuel sources.

If there is no need of alternative fuel sources,

There will be no work for scientists and engineers, utility companies would be doing nothing different,

No one would go out and buy solar panels.

No one would be buying windmills, or fuel cells.

The economy would falter and either maintain at a very low level,

or just implode.

There are too many people in the world to go back to a global agrarian economy.

We have solved our communications problems with phones,

We have solved our transportation issues with trains, planes and cars,

We have solved our needs of heating, cooling and shelter.

We have created weapons of mass destruction,

We have created comforts to make you happy,

Vacations, resorts, yachts, camping, recreational fishing and hunting, gambling, casinos, entertainers, movies, mass media and TV.

We have improved your health, eliminated many diseases, can replace most body parts, and are working on fixing your mental issues.

There is nothing new we need, to solve a human problem, that puts people to work, or gets you to spend more money than you have, or would want to spend.

Therefore we need global warming to put people to work.

Without global warming, we would all just settle down to making hamburgers for each other.

Welcome to the bottom of the food chain.

A MATHEMATICAL discovery by Perth-based electrical engineer Dr David Evans may change everything about the climate debate, on the eve of the UN climate change conference in Paris next month.

A former climate modeller for the Government’s Australian Greenhouse Office, with six degrees in applied mathematics, Dr Evans has unpacked the architecture of the basic climate model which underpins all climate science.

He has found that, while the underlying physics of the model is correct, it had been applied incorrectly.

He has fixed two errors and the new corrected model finds the climate’s sensitivity to carbon dioxide (CO2) is much lower than was thought.

It turns out the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has over-estimated future global warming by as much as 10 times, he says.

“Yes, CO2 has an effect, but it’s about a fifth or tenth of what the IPCC says it is. CO2 is not driving the climate; it caused less than 20 per cent of the global warming in the last few decades”.

Dr Evans says his discovery “ought to change the world”.

“But the political obstacles are massive,” he said.

His discovery explains why none of the climate models used by the IPCC reflect the evidence of recorded temperatures. The models have failed to predict the pause in global warming which has been going on for 18 years and counting.

“The model architecture was wrong,” he says. “Carbon dioxide causes only minor warming. The climate is largely driven by factors outside our control.”

There is another problem with the original climate model, which has been around since 1896.

While climate scientists have been predicting since the 1990s that changes in temperature would follow changes in carbon dioxide, the records over the past half million years show that not to be the case.

So, the new improved climate model shows CO2 is not the culprit in recent global warming. But what is?

Dr Evans has a theory: solar activity. What he calls “albedo modulation”, the waxing and waning of reflected radiation from the Sun, is the likely cause of global warming.

He predicts global temperatures, which have plateaued, will begin to cool significantly, beginning between 2017 and 2021. The cooling will be about 0.3C in the 2020s. Some scientists have even forecast a mini ice age in the 2030s.

If Dr Evans is correct, then he has proven the theory on carbon dioxide wrong and blown a hole in climate alarmism. He will have explained why the doomsday predictions of climate scientists aren’t reflected in the actual temperatures.

“It took me years to figure this out, but finally there is a potential resolution between the insistence of the climate scientists that CO2 is a big problem, and the empirical evidence that it doesn’t have nearly as much effect as they say.”

Dr Evans is an expert in Fourier analysis and digital signal processing, with a PhD, and two Masters degrees from Stanford University in electrical engineering, a Bachelor of Engineering (for which he won the University medal), Bachelor of Science, and Masters in Applied Maths from the University of Sydney.

He has been summarising his results in a series of blog posts on his wife Jo Nova’s blog for climate sceptics.

He is about half way through his series, with blog post 8, “Applying the Stefan-Boltzmann Law to Earth”, published on Friday.

When it is completed his work will be published as two scientific papers. Both papers are undergoing peer review.

“It’s a new paradigm,” he says. “It has several new ideas for people to get used to.”

It seems that 97% of climate scientists can't explain the 18+ year pause in global temperature change average as measured by satellites. That's because they use CO2 as the direct driving force that changes temperature above all other variables. They claim that CO2 change leads temperature change when the exact opposite is true.

When the model can't predict reality, the model is wrong.

Therefore we need global warming to put people to work.

Yeah? The solution to global warming is increased taxation and higher prices. Seems to me that makes people poorer and unemployed.

But ... the definition of a green job is not to produce CO2 or to minimize it. Taking away your job is the greenest solution. :)

We can have global warming by governmental decree.

File a RICO suit when you're not drinking the kool aid.

Sad news for youse guys.

Solar panels release CO2 at the end of their life, and in the recycling process.

They release toxic metals and are hazardous waste.

Like hot rocks from nuclear power production, we will be left with a toxic waste dump of dead solar panels.

But good job, saving the planet.

:rof::rof:

The only time they care about us,

Is when we have pitch forks and are heading up the hill.

Otherwise,

Welcome to the bottom of the food chain.

Did you catch the forecast? The climate will begin to cool significantly, beginning between 2017 and 2021 followed by a mini ice age in the 2030s.

That's because the thermometers all cracked (too hot) and began to slowly leak out the mercury. With corrected temperature readings, each year will be a new record high even though snow is falling in July in Washington DC and the politicians will blame climate change caused by man-made CO2.
