Having an active methane leak spewing 1,200 tons of methane, along with other gases, daily, is an extreme danger waiting for ignition and inevitable explosion to take it.

Not to mention warming the planet with those gases.

Wonder if the UN will fine California for global warming.



Wait until fire season next year.

Health officials: Porter Ranch gas leak may cause long-term health effects

There are known carcinogens in Natural gas leaks (Obamacare going up again)

but officials are saying don't worry the amount at Porter Ranch are not believed to be associated with long-term health problems. (long term is what? a year? so of course they have no evidence of long term effects)

But after 4 months of leaking and 6 more months projected to fix the leaking, they have apparently changed their minds.

There is now a; "heightened sense of urgency to resolve this problem" but, "We still don’t believe anyone is going to get any long-term health effects based on what we know,” said Dr. Cyrus Rangan, director of toxicity for the Division of Environmental Health in an interview.

“I wouldn’t be alarmed at the benzene levels at this point,” Rangan said. “It’s cause for doing more monitoring. It’s not cause for saying, ‘I gotta get out of here.’  He said tests so far have shown that the levels of benzene in the air are within the range expected in the Southern California basin due to exhaust from vehicles.

Side note: I did not see anywhere that Dr. Rangan's grandchildren live there. Good enough for everyone else though.

Oh, and when they go to fix it, they expect Radon gas may potentially be released during repair operations,

Some people worry about sniffing the exhaust pipe an internal combustion engine for the health effects. Try breathing in copious amounts of emissions from an active natural Gas well leak and see if there's anything that happens to you.

I wonder if the temperature will go up a couple degrees over the area where the leak is? It is heat trapping gas.

Under a new state law, the California Public Utilities Commission is charged with adopting rules and procedures to minimize methane leakage from natural gas infrastructure that is contributing to global warming.

In order for solar power or wind power to be available 24/7, battery storage is a must. Yet, the industry has not put together a supply chain to supply Lithium for Elon Musk's Gigafactory that will produce batteries for the Tesla cars and for solar panels.

The Gigafactory is planned to supply batteries for the 500,000 cars in 2017. That will require secure, long-term supplies of lithium, where more than 70% of lithium is found in Chile, Argentina and Bolivia.

Meanwhile, a big lithium discovery in Wyoming is on hold. It has an estimated 228,000 tons of lithium, or enough to meet annual U.S. demand. What's the hold up? The state which has estimated the value at $500 billion and wants to make sure they get a cut of it. They haven't got to the point of EPA requirements. But chances are EPA will have problems with drilling and extracting lithium salts deep below the earth's surface. Mining is on the EPA hit list for not being green.

How can California meet its own EPA laws and emissions caps? The greens out to sue the utility, the city and the state.

But how can you be green without batteries?

And how can you make batteries when every level of government has it's hand out?

Oh what a tangled web.

Who would have thought that making green industries wasn't green?

Wait until those Telsa car batteries die, and there is nothing that can be done with the cars except scrap them, or convert them to gasoline engines.



Tool and die makers will be needed to build conversion kits.
