Aloft Appraiser Toolkit

At one point or another, every appraiser here has worked for clients they had certain differences with.

It's difficult to provide an exact number of appraisals Freddie Mac has waived, as there isn't a single, publicly available count. However, the company has significantly expanded its appraisal waiver programs, particularly through its ACE (Automated Collateral Evaluation) program, according to Freddie Mac. In 2020, nearly 40% of mortgages funded by Freddie Mac were originated with appraisal waivers through ACE, according to Freddie Mac. While this share has decreased to 8.4% in Q2 2023, the ACE program remains a significant factor in Freddie Mac's lending practices, according to Freddie Mac. Additionally, Freddie Mac's ACE waivers have saved borrowers more than $1.63 billion in appraisal fees.

keep thanking him... :rof:

You can see what the politicians have been trying to do. You saw his testimony when he was dropping the numbers which put the allegations into context. I'm amazed he didn't get fired for that because his data dump clearly undermined the theme they were trying to build.
Its odd because Fannie’s paper Appraising the Appraisal found no bias, yet I don’t think anyone got fired for drawing those conclusions. Meanwhile, Freddie framed appraisers as the culprit of the “appraisal gap” while failing to credibly account for factors such as seller concessions, and for that we’re supposed to be thankful for that? I guess I disagree.

Needs more study before we can determine the actual cause/effect.
The assignment is now overdue. Time to turn in your opinions and conclusions. My opinion is that the psyop didn’t work.

Perhaps so.

My thinking is that some of that agenda was/is driven by partisan politics and we just had regime change so that might put the issue on hiatus until the next administration comes in and turns the heat back up.

The heat only gets turned up if the yes men as the GSEs don’t do anything to tamp it down. They have 3 more years to get the truth out, during which we’ll see if they’re acting out of principle, politics, or self-preservation.

Waivers are not free at least in 2022
I believe we charged $200 or $250 if the borrower elected to use it.
