Dee Dee, I would not disagree with you, I only add that it is a personal choice. If you want something bad enough you will take the measures to accomplish the task to get what you want.

Funny how on the newbee forum we cant win. If we say its great they get mad when they cant find a job. If we say its lousy and they should not look or even start they get mad at us for being too negative.

My best advice to you Lea and any other Newbee is to read what we have to say, decide for yourself and go from there.

AMEN!

I have never gotten upset or negative or bitter about not finding a job ( I have yet to hear any thing good about the job market other then what my school said), just wanted other newbies to know what my experience has been, and do like you said "to read and decide what we want to do". As a matter of fact the class I took will come in handy in my new career path, so I am glad I did it. I don't regret doing it, I just wish the school that I went to was a little more forthcoming with what to really expect and what not to expect right away, not just pumping students up. For the few that can relocate and take pay cuts down to minimum wage to get into appraising that is great for them, but that is not an option for me. And I wanted other newbies to know especially if there are any mothers to be that are being sold on the hype about being able to work from home, and get a great pay etc., that is not just not that easy, as I found out the hard way. Had I known what I was facing in the first place I would probably would not have tried to take this career path right now with the job market the way it is. This forum has helped give me ideas and I learned a lot and wished I had had this to help me make my decision or at least had given me an ubiased account of what the job market was really like.

Lea,

Are you giving up? What did you deside to do instead? Did you have your baby? Must have if you were pregnant a year ago, DUH.

Boy or Girl?

No I have not given up, I am still looking, but I have started taking a class with a local university to build on my education and if an opportunity arises that is great, but if it does not I won't be upset. I can use my knowledge and build on it. Life is to short to get upset over it :D . I had a baby boy :D

 Congratulations!

Happy birthday Katharine! Hope you have a great one!

Lea,

I think many would be interested to know what classes your taking at the university, and what career path this might lead too.

thanks

Andrew

I am getting into insurance adjusting. There are different aspects of the adjusting field, but appraising information I learned came in most handy when I was doing the section on property damage and related topics, because they discussed a lot of the principals that I learned while doing my appraisal course.
