I doubt I would have got that first job if I had not already taken 2 classes from AI.
Thanks! Here are the classes you need

Here is the state's website of what you need, which depends if you go residential or commercial.

Wheat are a couple most basic classes you would recommend me looking into?
Thanks!Principals and Practice. That's 60 hours right there.
Thanks for the advice. I'll be kicking around for a local appraiser to buy a coffee. Maybe even ride along for a day. See what it's all about. I appreciate that you said "extremely difficult" not "impossible" I've been through 2 war zones and started from nothing to where I am today. People who don't know you tend to tell you what you can't do. I may surprise you on extremely difficult. Haha thanks again.Supporting a family your size on a trainee's typical pay is going to be extremely difficult.
My advice would be to focus on the commercial side rather than the residential. There may be some larger firms (National or Regional) that are in the position to take on a salaried trainee.
I agree with everyone else on the education advice and definitely with speaking with potential mentors now rather than later. I'd be impressed with someone who was thinking about entering the field and wanted to talk with me about the profession (in general) and the employment opportunities (in specific); I'd certainly spend some time talking to them at least over the phone if I could.
Good luck!
