Any Word On The New Software That Was Expected In June

So I pay about $1200 to $1500 a year for Elite Package. No way I would pay extra to use Titan. It would be nice to be web based, but I can count on 1 hand the number of times that would be necessary. The only reason to go web based IMHO is because you want to use a cheaper lapto or computer that didn’t have the computing power. OR if you were going to be away from office for extended time and you had your files on a Desktop. But I have a really good MacBook that I can easily put in a case with all my files on it. And with all my files saved to Vault, it just doesn’t make sense to use TITAN. I guess more people may go to Mac computers instead of Windows and not have to run a parallels program. But really running a virtual program is pretty simple.

For me, the big draw is only because I use Linux and I wanted to be completely free from Windows. However, I am starting to question if cloud is really the answer or if I need to just keep plugging away with Windows inside a virtual machine. I don't buy the hype that you can get away with using a less expensive Chromebook or a cheap laptop. My current computer has 16GB of RAM. I give Windows10 about 4GB and WindowsXP another 4GB when its needed for obsolete programs I still used (Quickbooks 2006 doesn't work on anything newer). So that leaves me with 8GB of RAM at times. You would think that would still be plenty, but I often find my computer is starved for RAM. When I check the processes and programs that are open I have often found that Firefox will be using 6GB-7GB of RAM. Granted, I have a bad habit of having a dozen windows open with a dozen tabs inside of each window, but usually there is a reason I left the windows open and didn't close them down. So unless my browsing habits change, I will need about the same power to run my next computer simply because I am doing even more work inside of a web browser instead of inside a VM. The other problem with cloud based software is that you typically loose all of the right click features found with installed software. So anything that you do now with a right click (like copy/paste) will likely need to be completed in some other manner.

The only other advantage I see to using a cloud server is that all your files are available to you if you are on vacation or need to access something for a quick change over a weekend or something. But as homesweethome mentioned, this can also be accomplished by storing your files with an online storage system like vault.

It will be interesting to see how things work out in the future with cloud software. It may just turn out that SFREP made a wise choice by moving to 64bit installable software instead of moving to the cloud. If only they would have made it crossplatform compatible.

I don't know who Phil Crawford is, but Appraiser Fest would be a good time to introduce new software.

Do you have Windows running on your Mac?

I don't think those are the only reasons for web based. Personally (and it's just my opinion) it's more for "Skippy" you can write and send the report right there from the driveway! (as long as there's wifi access) and move on to the next 2 you have for the day

Personally I would like the web based (cloud?) as an option. I doubt I'd use it much. But I could see working on a report somewhere besides my office from time to time (maybe the beach?) But I haven't heard anything new about when Titan is supposed to be rolled out

Yes. I use Parellels for my virtual machine. I can run my apple programs simultaneously with my PC programs. Wonderful. I’ve only had one problem where I had to reinstall things. It was a pain, but just time consuming. And when I have had a problem (few times) with Parallels the Parallels support people are very good about fixing it. What I like about it is that it seems my program consistently runs at the same speed. When I had PC’s it seemed like the computer would just get slower and slower. Also the Apple computers just seem to run and run and run.

I got an email last week saying they will roll out Titan and some other things on Dec 10. They said 'STANDARD" Titan will be free for Silver, Gold, and Platinum members. But I don't think that will offer cloud storage since they also are selling a product called Titan Drive for cloud storage.

EDIT: Not that it matters though. Because everyone is leaving CoreLogic anyway right? Sorry, I couldn't resist. I think thats a different thread.

Freedom software will be released at the Appraiserfest. I’ve tested it and it has some awesome features. Yes it’s cloud based and yes there will be certain tiers you can buy into. It’s very user friendly and owned by appraisers.
They wanted to release earlier but have had to scale that back and work out some bugs and get it intergrated with MLS systems.
November 1-3 is when it will be released and they will have in person demonstrations and more at the Fest.

Thank you for the update. I am excited to see more of this software.
