Have you ever submitted your paper in this forum?
No, it was "submitted" to Zenodo.org in Geneva, which is the official publisher. The initial version was submitted on Feb. 1, 2025 and the latest version on Feb. 23, 2025. So, far there have been 212 downloads, which kind of surprised me - I would have expected far fewer in this time period. Although, residential real estate appraisal I guess would have far broader appeal than some paper in some niche of quantum mechanics (where you might only see 4 or so downloads).
I like Zenodo, because you can do updates. They have a system that can efficiently store new versions of PDFs because it can extract only the changes and then efficiently rebuild any version from the previous ones, taking up little extra storage. The keep all updates, and the URL above points to the latest one.
Also, it has a very good system for publishing software - and I plan on uploading my latest software soon. But using the "R6Class" is more time-consuming to develop than just R, and that is slowing me up a bit. But once, that is completed, then I will add more material to the RCA doc and upload that as well. That software will load the MLS Data into R data frames, take care of cleaning and completeness, run description stats on it, and then perform unsupervised learning algorithms such as K-Cluster analysis on it -- as part of the first stage of processing. Then there is the next stage which runs R/earth for MARS, and calculates residuals and scores, then the next stage that creates the RCA Sales Grid, then there is a stage where a large assortment of graphs and reports are produced. I will likely leave out the stage for creating the spreadsheet to upload into Alamode - leaving that as something that someone can purchase.
At some point, once this "foundation" is completed, then I will upload to my own journal "Valuation Engineer" - and add smaller articles every several months. That is to say whatever goes into Zenodo I can also copy into my own journal.
I was thinking about publishing in ArXiv.org, which is what most professors and grad students in Academia use. But I found it is really tailored just for academia or people with close ties to academia. You need someone to endorse you to upload on that forum. My son-in-law who has a Ph.D. from Stanford in Geostatistics was going to do that, since he has uploaded a few papers to ArXiv himself. But, the requirement to endorse is to have uploaded at least two papers for a given subject in the past 5 years (as I recall). My app area would be "Statistics Applications" - and he only had one paper uploaded in the past 5 years in that category. So, he was not able to endorse me for that category. Now I could have looked for someone else ... but I don't have time and its even more of a hassle with all their rules. Like many others, I would prefer just to use Zenodo, which is owned by CERN in Geneva and stores everything for as long as it is in existence. Also, Zenodo is popular the Germans - a lot of what they publish is from German academia and business, for example in the field of robotics they have a lot of interesting research papers. So, I am comfortable with it. It is a shame they don't have anything like it in the US. Europe has more money for these non-profit things, - and higher taxes.
This is how I enjoy my retirement - and mucking around with my computers and software and AI and cameras and having fun.
