Anyone Going To Valuation Expo ** Las Vegas In August ?

I attended last year as well. Your summary is spot on. I’m shocked we didn’t get any follow up survey or an invite to this year’s expo, even a we noticed you haven’t signed up yet email.

There is nothing there for independent appraisers. It’s pretty much a revaa event at this point.

I knew someone that went at least 10 to 15 years ago, this was back when they gave a **** about the independent appraiser and rotated between Vegas and other areas of the country where appraisers could actually attend. It was exactly what an appraiser convention is supposed to be, he picked up about three new clients that he kept until he passed away a few years ago.

And they make you pay double - expensives as **** to get onto the tradeshow floor, and then there apparently was another fee you had to pay to go listen to speakers. I should’ve known an event catering to appraisers would be one where they fleece the ever loving and **** out of you and nickel and dime you to death. :rof:

Oh well, live and learn. And Caesars sucks. The only good news is I lost 8 pounds in three days because I couldn’t afford to eat in that hotel. Didn’t want to make the mile walk outside where the chicken sandwiches aren’t $35. Also out of fear that I would slip and fall on a drug addict’s needle.
Most appraisers can't afford to go to a Trade Show. Sadly the average income of residential appraisers is not much more than a fast food worker in California or a courtesy clerk AKA Box Boy at a Grocery store. May be time for some to consider a new career or get a job at a AMC.

they got to meet somewhere in person to set the rigged fees... :rof:

About the same as a room in Ruidoso... I pick New Mexico.
This is what that peaceful river which runs through the center of Ruidoso looks like this month. First fires burned up large areas around the city and then huge torrents of rain scoured the countryside and swept everything into the river. Sad. I had in-laws with a cabin there & I've caught trout in that City Park years ago as well.

Which is the blackball room? Poker or Blackjack space? :)

Rather spend a weekend at Bernie's..............

Been to vegas once in the 90s. I'm good

No kidding. I'm only on pace to make about 85k this year appraising. Luckily for me it's only a gig job and about 30-40% of my income. I would urge everyone to treat it as a side gig.

Funny to see the suits show up at conventions as though this is still a serious profession. :rof: They destroyed it. Can't have it both ways. Can't destroy the profession and still expect working appraisers to give a **** about whatever nonsense you put out in your bi-annual ethic book or selling guide.

No follow up means they don't give a rats arse.

Anyway, were you there when Hal took the stage and told the ADI trainees to stay off of Facebook and social media because of the lies about the profession? And when the COO of Class took a question from the crowd, a guy described/complained how Class does business and he said (paraphrasing) "If you don't like it don't do business with them"? I was sitting by the guy who asked the question, everyone in that section was just looking around with a WTF look on their faces.

And the cost, Vegas and Ceasars is nice for the AMC crowd and the insta-toot reps who are staying on someone else's dime, but it sucks to blow through $$$ out of your own pocket and get no respect.

I was only able to sneak into a couple speaking events. Was turned away from the other cause I'm not paying another $500 to hear people tell me how much they hate appraisers. So I missed those. Glad to hear a few appraisers speak out.

I went to the trade show speaking event the first day, everyone had 5 min to talk to a room full of us. A smug guy from that spanish company rest.b.AI, or whatever came up and made it clear he hated appraisers, then walked away never to be seen from again. Had reps from BOA and Wells come up - I used to be a tier 1 buy with BOA, first name basis with a lot of high ups there. Then corelogic bought their appraisal dept and never heard from them again. A few years ago I heard they fired corelogic and went back to an in house appraisal dept. Figured this was my in. Went up to the trade show and couldn't find their booth. Went out and asked the expo reps where the BOA and wells table was? They said they didn't have one. I said well how can I contact them? They said I just have to find them. :rof: It was that moment I knew what this event was all about.

It's an event for suits with expense reports. The only way I'd go back is if about 10-15 of us joined up and we went and crashed the ****er by speaking out at every event like that appraiser did with class :rof:

Imagine a person actually telling potential new appraisers to not do research online or listen to actual veterans in the field

You mean grossing $85k per year ? because if that was net and where you live I highly doubt you'd have two other jobs and the wife working 12 hours a day. Lol )
