Apex and Clickforms

OK, We have a new build which some of us will put through some more testing tonight. We'll make the call by noon tomorrow, but at this point it looks promising.

Hope this helps!

Randall,

We just downloaded Medina yesterday and I have a guy testing now. It looks good with lots of bells and whistles but because of the demo mode we could not integrate.

Keep me posted today about the new version and when it will be available and barring any unforeseen occurances hopefully I will be in touch soon about a purchase.

OK, the v4.1.1 update is on our servers now... :-)

Hope this helps!

Randall,

Nice job on the current version of Medina. A quick experiment shows the most annoying problems with the earlier releases are gone. I just might stay with it this time rather than going back to 3.2. I run it under Windows XP in Parallels on a Mac. The only problem I noted was the indicator for the cursor does not work properly when drawing with numbers and arrows; it just stays fixed on the screen. If a mouse or trackpad is touched, that fixed point becomes the cursor location. It is not a big deal to me since I make my actual sketch in MobileSketch on my PocketPC, but it would be a problem for many.

I hope I am clear on describing the problem. Let me know if you need more information.

Greg

Greg:

Thanks for the compliments and the other feedback. Our next release is built for our Assessor customers, but it contains some fixes, tweaks and additional features as well that will be available in the Fee Appraiser build. I expect we will release another Fee Appraiser build very shortly (likely within a day?) after the Assessor build goes out, so you might want to check our site sometime at the end of this week or early next week. When it is ready, I'll make a post in the Apex section here and give a short list/description of what is fixed, tweaked and added. More complete info will, of course, be in the "ReadMe.txt" file and on our web site.

One thing we'll be attempting to accomplish with the Assessor release is the flag which lets us turn on Auto-Update notifications again. Right now, the Auto-update notification is turned off on our servers because only the Fee Appraiser version is out and we didn't want Assessors running v4.0 to get a notice that a new build is out when it wouldn't work for their version. Similarly, we don't want to notify the Fee Appraisers that a new Assessor build is out when they can't use that version, either. With this next release, we should be able to automatically notify users when an update is out that pertains to their particular version. That probably means Fee Appraisers will not have this capability until the next version from them is out and has been installed. Sorry this got so wordy and I hope my meaning is clear. We believe this is a good thing for users - to let them know when a free update is out... :-)

I think the description of your cursor location issue is clear enough for me to test on a Mac through Parallels. I have noticed something similar using programs like Jing for video recording. I believe the problem is rooted in "screen coordinates" vs. "world coordinates" for local vs. remote systems. Sorry to get geeky, LOL. Anyway, I'll take a look at it and see what I can do about this. Although you don't seem to have an immediate need, I'd still like to make it work right in your environment... :-)

If you have any suggestions or feature requests, let me know.

Randall,

After nearly 2 years of procrastinating I finally purchased the latest version of Apex. I waited until I fealt most of the bugs were worked out. I must say that I am pleased with it as it appears to have been seamless in integrating with clickforms. I also like the stand alone capability because most of what I do is commercial in nature and always wanted to do those projects outside the residential software. Thanks for all of the feedback and you can add one more satisfied customer.

Thanks for the kind words, Brian. FWIW, we are nearing release of an update with some new stuff, tweaks, etc. You should get automatic notification when it is pushed to the web site. It is, of course, a free update for you.

Also, if you do not already know of this link, the one below is to a library of video tutorials the Robert strung together. I believe it has over 65 topics and you can either just let it run or you can hop around the different items of interest by using the list on the left of the player.

Here is the link for the page with various videos: http://www.apexwin.com/v5/Videos/Appraiser/index.php

This big one is the one set apart, labeled "Learn Apex Medina Appraiser"

Hope this helps! Let me know how we can make Apex more productive for you. Constructive criticism is welcomed.

I still like V2 much better. I could typically complete even the most challenging sketch in under 10 minutes, and never touch the mouse. I liked that. Any chance we could pay you guys to bring back that level of functionality? Don't need a lot of bells and whistles, just a simple solution to a simple problem. By the way, what's considered typical turn around time for questions e-mailed to tech support? My read receipt claims they got the missive at 10:46AM 10/1/08. It is now 8:50PM and still no response. The question deals with the removal of single text label, I guess they don't know either.

Exactly which functions did you have in version 2 that you don't have in version 4?

Tell me, when you find out! That problem has cropped up for me a couple times.
