Appraisal Institute Accused of Covering Up Sexual Harassment and Test Flaws

Here’s a tip for the New York Times, considering they’ve shown interest in my phrase "the ol’ boys." TAF, REVAA, the GSEs, AMCs, AARRO, the ASC, bankers, and state boards are the key entities to investigate. If you want to uncover fraud and corruption on an epic scale—and perhaps even win a Nobel Prize—just focus on these organizations.
NYtimes likes fraud, they are only running with this because they think it can hurt appraisers.

The Problem is the York York Time's is the ones who started the Anti Appraiser theme three years ago about White Male appraisers, and why appraisers provided the Public no value.

Don't ever believe they care about helping save the Profession, their agenda is to destroy it. Therefore you may think that shining a light on the AI is good for us but "remember the Public " is being led to believe that residential appraisers are the members of the AI --they don't even know what a MAI or what a AMC or Revva is.

"Chance said in an interview Thursday that she believed that the board acted to remove Steinley only because the allegations had spilled into the public.

“It's only because people stepped up at considerable personal and professional risk to tell the truth that this is happening,” she said. “I don't mean to say that as if I'm happy about that, but it was necessary.”"

"Paul Chandler, president of the Northern California group, wrote in an update to members published to LinkedIn that senior AI executives were hesitant to answer questions related to Steinley at AI’s May Leadership Development and Advisory Council meeting."

"Critics of AI and the two lawsuits describe the leadership as an insular group that protects senior members while directing contracts to their allies."

“A complete governance overhaul is necessary,” Chance said. “I believe that the behavior has been enabled by the other officers, members of the audit committee and board members as well. I think the organization needs to take a good hard look at itself and reform.”

That's what the industry is all about. You can even see it reflected in this forum.

It is not friends, it's partners. Joan Trice's favorite term. Cough......cough......

I'll tell you my opinion. With the amount of control an AMC has over an APPRAISER, the appraiser should be classified as an employee based on current employment laws in USA.

Not partner, not friend............The appraisers that are independent contractors or LLCs or whatever should be classified as an employee of the AMC.

My whole opinion is based on current laws in USA on employee vs independent contractor laws in place.

By the same token IMHO, an AMC should be employee of the client they work for. Remember many AMCs are already partially owned by the client they work for.

We’ll see, I’m pretty stupid so I give people chances over and over again. so hopefully the appraisal Institute becomes a better advocacy organization (if the survive) but they burned a huge bridge last year. But they can’t talk one way and act another. All revaa spokesman need to be removed and the revaa room burnt to the ground then salt the Earth it stood upon.
