Funny, once again it's all about MAI's and not the post showing appraisal institute incompetence. Who would have guessed?
I'm an MAI, it's another qualification. I'm driving comps over an hour away, still measure buildings with tapes and lasers. I also don't make 200k. I'm the only MAI in our office and I actually make less when considering my higher dues into the mix. I pursued it as a challenge. There has been issues with education being accepted, the issue I've had recently had to do with my state taking too long to file the Appraisal Institute's paperwork. Our state licensing needs an overhaul as well.
I have worked with a couple on contract work. One of them I worked the longest with wanted me to take over his commercial practice but I already had my CG when I started working with him. He had like 16 residential trainees working for him before I got there. His residential side business had disappeared. All we worked on was commercial together. Some residential members of AI laugh at MAIs telling them how much harder residential can be than commercial. I have witnessed it. I don't argue with them. They can be very correct in their opinion.I haven't met one, but I suppose there may be an MAI who works in the field as an appraiser.
No telling how many candidates and designated members have left Appraisal Institute because they were not playing advocate for appraisers. The MAIs I worked with me made me not even pursue MAI designation any longer. They complained about national headquarters of appraisal institute constantly. We’ll see, I’m pretty stupid so I give people chances over and over again. so hopefully the appraisal Institute becomes a better advocacy organization (if the survive) but they burned a huge bridge last year. But they can’t talk one way and act another. All revaa spokesman need to be removed and the revaa room burnt to the ground then salt the Earth it stood upon.
