Well, I would love for someone to show me HOW the TAF has done anything in the past decade to promote or protect the real estate appraiser. Look at the membership/leadership of that group...clearly of, by, and FOR lenders. Look at how FNMA *****-slapped USPAP's convoluted allowance of gaining geographic competence, for one instance. Thank God Fannie called that shot.
As for lobbying for the interests of real estate appraisers I am totally ignorant of what TAF has done on our behalf. From my perspective, diddily squat.
The AI apparently supported and promoted the appraisal part of the financial reform bill, which clearly TAF was vehemently against! And, oh pray tell, WHY? Can you say "lender's interests"?
Bill Garber and Scott D. have worked very hard in Washington....just not pulling the wagon like TAF would dictate. I am as proud of AI right now as I have been in 10 years. This is a rare and golden opportunity to make some bold moves which could impact us for a long time. I hope the leadership of ALL the appraisal sponsors have the vision and the backbone to pull it together.
