The Appraisal Foundation has a nice new page that tells you all about how to become a PAREA Appraiser

Most of those govt jobs are filled and people tend to stay in them long term and they have nothing or little to do with appraisalImagine how many Govt Jobs there are in HUD-VA- GSEs- State Licensing Boards both for realtors and appraisers, FEMA, and Money Center Banks which hire them not to do appraisals but to be managers in valuation departments. There are thousands of jobs that fit into the Administrations goal of updating the appraisal profession. I really think PAVE will be the Govt Model for turning this profession upside down and it will look like nothing of the past.
Basically AI and the other organizations also have a chance to become part of this and clean house and rebuild a new entire business model with new designations and ease of entry. If I was young at not a White Male I would be all over this like white on rice and sell the hell out
of it to everyone I met![]()
See thats the problem you really believe they are trying to grow the amount of people coming into residential lending ? They already know there is no future for young people to come into this especially working as self employed fee appraisers. These people have a plan and it will look nothing like what we have perceived it to be. PAREA people will not be looking for work its going-to be given to them with real jobs .Most of those govt jobs are filled and people tend to stay in them long term and they have nothing or little to do with appraisal
The purpose of PAREA was ease the barrier entry of a mentor in order to get new people and esp minorities into the appraisal profession - the problem being the appraisal profession is a shadow of its former self on the res lending side.
But is it?Absolutely path to certified general appraiser should be allowed on PAREA. No limits on value. License required.
Why not may as well give the new people a better chance to succeed. But is it?
What about people who have been stuck in residential appraising for 20 years and need a mentor but the nepitism is a problem? Why not may as well give the new people a better chance to succeed.
Actually I believe there will be lots of jobs provided by Goverment Agencies and GSEs and Big Banks. They will not be fee appraisers but employees with real paychecks and benefits.
That will attract young people of color into the profession. The self employed fee appraiser days are ending as nobody wants to own a one man business with no future and 35 years with no business to even sell.
You may get a CG but getting a mentor is the problem. What about people who have been stuck in residential appraising for 20 years and need a mentor but the nepitism is a problem?
What proof do you have of that?See thats the problem you really believe they are trying to grow the amount of people coming into residential lending ?
