I expect many to not share my view on the advantages and opportunities that such a program can create for the boots-on-the-ground residential appraiser who wants to grow her firm and take on trainees.
I know this is from an older post (#10 on this thread) but I wanted to reply as I've been thinking about it
In theory I agree with much of what Denis posted

regarding a manual for many appraisers to follow. This could be beneficial for many. Many appraisers may not have a clue how to train someone; I may be one of them since I've never trained anyone, I can't say one way or the other (I'd like to think I would be good at it, but again, never done it, so can't say)
FTR I do some work with AXIS (they've been decent to me as a client; pay my full fee and I hardly get irrelevant stips) I know they don't have the best reputation and they do blast fee quote/TAT sometimes (I don't get bombarded and actually get some of the fee/TAT quotes; some of which I quote as PITA fees/TAT)
The problem I have with the idea/theory is the WHO that are behind it. The ones mentioned multiple times throughout this thread have little to no credibility with me. That's my opinion and your opinion may vary. These WHO's, IMO, are not looking out for the best interest of independent field appraisers (not staff or volume guarantee) but true independent field appraisers out there. To me, this "program" is designed more for the staff/volume guarantee appraisers to benefit the AMC and therefore lenders they work with. I think an appraiser who has had success in truly running an appraisal business, with multiple appraisers working for them and office staff, who could write up a manual and publish it, could honestly make some decent $$$$ from selling/marketing that manual as it would have more credibility than this program/manual, IMO.
IMO, this program is similar to EXOS (see other threads). In theory they both are "meant" to be "helpful/beneficial" to the appraiser and in theory I agree they could be. The problem is, IMO, in reality both are WAY MORE beneficial for the AMC/lender and not beneficial to the appraiser nor the appraisal industry.
