Anyone know if there Is there any official guidance (from AI or other) regarding the use of Valuator vs. Appraiser? Valuator gives me a less professional vibe but maybe it's just me.

What the heck is a Valuator??? Is that an appraiser played by Arnold Schwarzenegger?

good one!

Does a "valuator" need a license?

Canada calls appraisers valuers and in Britain they are Chartered Surveyors...

So whatzat?

actually in the UK an appraiser is known as a property valuer or land valuer. chartered surveyors do much more than just appraisals.

val·u·a·tor n.One that estimates values; an appraiser.

This word is not really in common 'lingo' any more. According to another source, the word originated in 1731.

But if used, the word would have to have a prefix description attached, i.e., Real Estate Valuator, or Real Property Valuator.

Try using it on a couple of reports and see what happens. Would be interesting, I bet.

A duck by any other name is still a duck!

U.S. appraisers don't give values... we are Opinionators.
