Nobody cares if you do/don't change your politics (same for me and mine). What we're discussing here are the intellectual disconnects and your denial of how people actually act that you're using to support your view.
Going back to Sowell's explanation, I think it's fair to say that you are among those who believe that "....man is morally perfectible. Because of this, they believe that there exist some people who are further along the path of moral development, have overcome self-interest and are immune to the influence of power and therefore can act as surrogate decision-makers for the rest of society."
Obviously, I disagree with 100% of that. As do many other Americans whose political support you would also need in order to impose these additional limitations on our society.
Meanwhile, the rich will continue to be rich and they'll continue to find ways via the rule of law to get around whatever limitations you attempt to impose upon them. The only people you're be able to penalize are the people who don't have the means to take their money to Singapore or Dubai. You won't get the benefit; all you'll get will be the collateral damage.
