It 's pretty much as I thought - AI can be used in its present form to write better, to convey what we want to say, and for some limited research. So I dumped ChatGPT. It does not work for my use case. I switched to CoPilot which has been useful in writing programs in Excel and checking my work in Word. It is saving me time. It is not good at pulling information from websites, but it is good at rewriting paragraphs. I've asked it to rewrite something I wrote and make it "more professional" sounding. I would recommend it. It's tough to argue that it's making me more money, but I will say that I've received complements on my responses so it's keeping my clients happy and doesn't cost an unreasonable amount in my opinion. If you do a lot of litigation work, I would recommend it.
It can not do an appraisal or do analysis, etc - people way overestimate what it can do, - it will take years before it gets to that stage and would need to be custom-tailored, "trained" as they call it, to perform a specific task within a specific profession.
It is a lot more limited than the tech titans like to let on. My car dealership offers an AI assisted telephone line now. All it does is offer rote choices and connections . When I asked it a question or asked to be connected to a live person it was incapable of delivering. A total waste of time. I hung up on it in frustration.
