Athena Vs. Aurora

It's not all that bad, Rhonda, certainly not bad enough not to upgrade to the superior system.

Alamode has the best overall software package. Part of the package is agressive marketing. I'd rather put up with that then an inferior product or built in data theivery.

thanks Scott. I think I'll load it on my hubby's puter and play around with it when I get a chance. How much time on average has it saved you on a 'normal' report? (not a nightmare like I am working on today)

As far as the data - they will steal it if they want it and most of the time they do. If it is not made easy for them - they will just send the pdf overseas and have someone type it for 5 cents a report. (or less)

When clients demand things be sent in the XML format - they can easily take the data. Even though Ala mode does not participate in compiling and using the data - they do provide the means to do it. They have to in order to stay in business in today's world. I think it is a no win situation with data in today's world. :icon_sad:

So seriously..in a quick nutshell whats the difference and why is Aurora better??

I still use Athena, I dont care about Bells and Whistles and only care about fast and time. If it could save me time I would convert, otherwise no gracias.

Forgetting all the bells and whistles, Aurora has a multitude of features Athena does not, including pulling comps from other appraisals, up and down scrolling ,etc. Aurora allows you to do the appraisals much faster once you put the time and effort into learning the features/differences.

If time is money for you, it is without a question, a good solid investment. Stop fearing, just do it. It aint gonna kill ya!!!!

At first Aurora slowed me down, but not too much.

I still have Athena on my back-up computer (older one), and if I ever have to use it, I realize that Aurora is much better and faster.

It's not about bells and whistles, it's just faster. The maps are easier to do, etc.

I like the Athena photos better though - quicker by far.

One more time, everything takes time to learn.

Two things:

Just to reiterate, stay far away from any new release for one to two years. Search a couple of years back for threads about Aurora, some of those who switched were angry as hell with downtime. Consider whats happening now with windows vista.

Regarding the pop ups and sales pitches from Alamode, there used to be a check box to turn that stuff off, don't you have that option in Aurora? I'm a bit surprised Alamode isn't handling that here on the forum.
