Hi, has anyone else had this happen? i updated total on friday, monday it was gone....no desktop icon, can't open it....called alamode, they looked at my avira quarantine list, some 7k files were put in there by Avira. Can't restore them as the path is gone......alamode tells me avira can fix it, avira tells me while they are aware until the developers fix it nothing they can do. alamode pushed me off on getting a tech person to remove all of total/alamode from my pc....they won't do it. what the **** do i pay yearly for? this is just a mess and both companies know its going on.

Never heard of the program but it sounds overly aggressive.

If you happen to use the "vault" and "exact" programs from Alamode to backup your data and settings, you are in luck. Just uninstall the antivirus program, reinstall total and restore your settings and data from the cloud. Otherwise, you are going to have to reinstall total, manually copy all of your Zap files out of quarantine and reconfigure all your personalization settings from scratch including all of your signatures. That's assuming you still want to use total.

trust me after 30 years of using alamode products and paying memberships i'd love to get rid of them for their lack of help. they truly suck since core logic bought them. I do not have vault, but fortunately all my zap files are saved in my documents and i loaded total on my lap top and and able to email the files to myself and open them on my laptop. a tad time consuming but it is not the end of the world. uninstalling the virus software then completely removing all total/alamode (which alamode won't help me with) and reinstalling is my only option at this point. was just wondering if anyone else had this happen as both companies know about it...

One thing I would do for certain is copy all of your zap files to a USB drive immediately just in case something else goes wrong on that machine. I can't believe that the antivirus program removed all the paths as well as the files, that really sucks. Total will automatically rebuild most of your photo database when you move those files back into the proper directory after a reinstall so that will help a little. You can rebuild your common response database as you go, open up some recent reports and populate it from them, I probably have some outdated quick responses from 30 years ago that would benefit from a good purge myself. Sorry for your troubles!

Don't bother reinstalling the AV software unless you're still on W7 or older. They cause more issues than they solve. Windows Defender is all you need.

if your virus program doesn't have an exemption category from it's locking a programs files, then like above, you need to change the virus program. an option, if it's there, is to roll back windows to the day before you installed the virus program. but's that a lucky chance, if you can. that will wipe out the virus program and correct windows registry to find alamode again.

it does have exemptions. i've been using avira for years and it wasn't until i updated total last week that this happened. not sure if it is just coincidence. i am thinking of rolling back my machine to last month
