If they are renting, what does that have to do with the topic of FHA defaults and buying houses ? You said put pressure on the housing market - the topic was buying houses and FHA loans,

Some illegals rent, many live with family or pile in 10 to a rental or live in trailers etc -

So, you think 11 million people are living under a bush and eating rabbit guts? They are living somewhere. And as such displacing others be it renting or buying. And many come here with resources.
 
It is useless to point out facts to the lefties. Bottom line is housing is in short supply because of the open Southern and northern border. The Canadians are pointing the way to the USA border. That's why they do not have an immigration problem, they just keep pointing to the bridge to the Land of the freebies for non citizens
 
Extend and pretend with those non-performing loans has been an established component of the RE market for many years. And it isn't just FHA and the GSEs that have been doing it. The lenders were favoring short sales of almost amount rather than foreclose to let the property sit vacant. Borrowers were living rent free for 18 or 24 months before being forced out.

Corrupt or not, the govt has allowed such as a matter of political and economic expediency. A form of managed retreat, if you will. The govt mostly HASN'T allowed it for non-residential properties, so there's clearly a social entitlement mentality going on at the govt level.
 
As far as housing goes, the pricing of housing is supported by the rental market, so the more demand there is for rental units the higher the rents. The higher the rents, the higher the pricing goes via the principle of substitution. If it costs $2000 to rent a 2bd house then a PITI of $2200 to buy it becomes a no-brainer. If it only costs $1500 to rent then the $2200 PITI becomes a harder sell

Hypothetically speaking, if there were 5M fewer rental tenants in the U.S. it would probably affect the occupancy in the rental market and also affect the rents.

Even if they are displacing others, , though I would say competing with others - what does this have to do with the subject topic of FHA loans and defaults?
