G'day everyone,

New appraiser here and needing to become FHA certified. Been looking around for a course to take before completing the form and submitting my things to HUD. I checked McKissock, they have an "Appraising FHA Today" course offered but in the descriptions it states that it is intended for students who are already practicing FHA appraisers. Has anyone here been through that one yet or does anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks!

Hi Andy,

The AI offers a good on-line course for FHA.

:clapping::clapping::clapping: I am glad to hear that you are taking steps to make yourself competent to do FHA appraisals before you get your FHA approval.......a huge pat on the back to you for doing things the way they should be done!!!!

Wouldn't have it any other way. I work with an appraiser who's been in the biz for 30 years after 10 years W/ HUD.

I wish that everyone else who wants to become an FHA approved appraiser would follow your example. Unfortunately, from some of the questions posted on the boards in this forum, it is very obvious that there are appraisers out there performing FHA appraisals without knowing many of the FHA guidelines.

I gotta tell ya, I took an FHA class form McKissock before I became certified and it was a complete joke. I learned absolutely nothing, I would save your money and just study the HUD handbook.

Andy27 - From the information I received last week from FHA/HUD on the current time frame for processing online applications, you might as well submit your app now and then take an AI course.

All applications are sent to and processed in Washington. The current processing time, due to the volume, is 10 to 12 weeks which gives you plenty of time to memorize the handbook.

well I found the answer I was looking for: 10-12 weeks. To think I was getting anxious after a week.

for what it's worth, AI class was very good.
