Best AMC

Two AMC and 1 direct engagement channel sounds like a good way to go to me. Make the direct engagement fees same as what you are paying the AMC and you will get your orders filled. There are many appraisers that just don't work with AMC. It is a big pool of appraisers not available to you if only using AMC. All the AMC's pretty much use the same appraisers.

Most of the AMCs I really like tend to be more local and are more "personal" in their approach. My favorite of those is PEMCO Limited out of Sacramento CA, but I am not sure if they cover anything outside Northern California. Of the national AMCs I like Appraisal Nation, AMSA and Apex. Lots of others I do not have much experience with volume-wise, so I can't really comment.

Without "naming names" I would counsel you to steer clear of the top two or three largest national AMCs as they are impersonal, spam orders and generally are not fun to work with on our end. ;)

I appreciate the input, but again, we aren’t going to do an appraisal desk at this time. We are looking for a good National AMC that you guys like to work with. If you have any suggestions, I would appreciate it greatly from your side.
Thank you

That seems efficient- I know our current AMC’s are doing that now (At least US is) and it works Ok. Still seeing really extended turn times tho and sometimes (in TX especially) no appraisers are willing to even take the order on. That surprises me. I hate having to turn a borrower away for not being able to get an appraiser to even take the order on with an extended turn time. That makes us look pretty bad.
Do you have any good National AMC’s that you know do this that you recommend?
tried to PM you, but it says I can't start a conversation with you. You're welcome to PM me.

For sure- we don’t want the biggest, we want the best. And best being on both our side as a lender and your side as an appraiser too. We really do care!
Thank you

If you want best service, order direct via Mercury or Appraiser port, they already have appraisers signed up for it.

OR, make an arrangement with an AMC that you, the lender will contribute $100 over what AMC pays to appraiser fee and or you expect AMC to not charge more than 20% off appraisal fee. Appraisers give their best service normally to direct lenders because fees are better same for reasonable TT or harassment via updates, then second the more decent AMC wrt fee and , and last to the big box cheapo pay terrible TT and updates AMC

Thank you- this is helpful.
I’ll check out both Mercury and Appraisal port. They seem to both be owned by CoreLogic who we have a good relationship with. And- I completely agree with the AMC not charging too much for their cut and giving more to the appraiser. That’s how you get quality and good turn times. We all work for $, It doesn’t make sense for an AMC to have a big cut just to coordinate…

Neither Mercury nor Appraisalport are AMC's. They are Order Management Systems.

I will second the comment about using the Mercury and Appraisal Port platforms. The clients we have who are on there are generally easy to work with, and the uniformity of the platforms reduces wasted time dealing with peculiar "clusterf****" that you can run into on unique, individual AMC websites (some of which seem stuck in the 1990s).
