Best Bang For Your Buck Laser Measuring Device?

I understand that you've had a great experience with your current laser and appreciate the fact that you use lasers. We've had numerous customers tell us when purchasing a Leica that they've had to purchase inexpensive lasers every year because they break or simply do not take consistent measurements after a short period of time. Now they may be extremely rough on these lasers, that I do not know, but the fact remains that our lasers are rugged and with programs like DISTO sketch they make your workflow much easier and efficient. I apologize for trying to advertise our brand but I'm very passionate about our products and helping to make your life easier. I want everyone to understand I'm here to help answer questions on our products. Please feel free to reach out to me in regards to Leica DISTO or our sketch program.

pretty sure you just accomplished the exact opposite of what you wanted to do.

I've used my Stanley Fat Max for nearly 10 years; no problems; does everything I need. Paid about $99 back then.

I'm sure there are 'better' units with a lot more whistles and bells.... that I absolutely do not need.

My Bosch DLR165 just crapped out. Paid $89.99 in 2008 and used in constantly. The viewfinder on the Disto sounds great, but for someone with a projected 3-4 working career left I'm not sure it is worth the investment.

keep an eye out on ebay. i picked up a D5 a couple years back for under $300, or less than the cost of one report.

I've had the same model since 2012.
So with 8 years of use at 90 bucks, that is about $11.25 per year (minus the bells and whistles) !!

btw, Steven Hobson hasn't been seen on A/F since trying to sell his product here, back in Sept.

I've been appraising over 10 years and still use a 100' tape for measuring, and have a wheel in the trunk that I use on occasion if I need it. I can measure almost any property pretty fast and accurately, so I've never felt the need to splurge and by a laser.

I have no doubt that some walls would just be easier with a laser, and am finally ready to stop being so cheap and buy one.

With there being so many options and brands, I'm not sure what to get. Distos are outrageously price IMO. And there are so many great reviews for products that cost significantly less, I'm not sure what to buy.

As with any purchase, I'm looking to get the most out of what I spend, and if shelling out $400 is actually worth it, and will save me time and money in the long run, I'm willing to do it.

So what say you, fellow appraisers? What are you using that you like, and why? What have you used that you didn't like, and why? Specific brands and models would be very helpful.

Thanks in advance!
I just bought the e7500 for $409.00 no tax no shipping fee Love it

I have been using the A5 since when it came out. I know what one of the problems might be when people say they break. That wire that connects the board to the display becomes disconnected when you drop the disto. It is a little difficult to reconnect it because the connector is short. Other than that I am pretty happy with the product.
