Bifurcated Appraisal Inspections/new Ny Legislation?

I don't know one way or the other, but it seems unlikely to me that he would have said less to his employer less than what he would have said to Fannie.

Someone posted in a different thread (maybe USPAP)....
A difference between ethics and morals....

I believe there is a difference between lying and disingenuous....

Fine, let's pull on that string a little. I'm not real great at following the various personal feuds people have with each other on this forum because as an appraiser I have a low EQ; so I'm not conversant on exactly what your beef is with him. What kinds of info do you think that he could provide but is choosing not to provide to you? Let's suss that out and see if there might be some reasonable explanation for it.

Again, being ignorant regarding Fannie and fees....
I find it curious why he felt the need to mention fees to Fannie....

The only thing I can imagine is Fannie asked DW what did he "see" as barriers to the products success....
And he responded that fees were one barrier....
But since the market sets the fees....
I don't know how that would be relevant to Fannie....

Didn't I just provide one possible explanation? That perhaps Fannie was selling their program to the lenders on the basis of a cost reduction that might not actually exist? Would that not be a good thing for Fannie to understand?

Correct me if I'm wrong but the impression I am getting from you at the moment is that you think SL has set a fee for these assignments and is imposing that fee on appraisers.

Speed. Simple as that. We get inspections done in an average of 1.4 days. Appraisers, on average, wait longer than that to even call. Appraisers might say they don't need that speed, but that is what they want.

Why are your appraisers so slow to call? Have you ever researched why they resist making a call promptly, say on the evening of the day the order arrives? Other clients get better service that what you describe.

1. I enjoy and appreciate DW's posts....

2. I don't believe we have a feud....

3. I question his posts if and when I perceive a contradiction....

4. I believe he and I interact with one another in a respectful tone....

5. One only need be on this site a very short time to realize folks are laser focused on fees....
So I'm assuming DW is well aware of what will be the reactions of many AF members when he posts about fees....

IMO, if he were sincere regarding helping AF members he would put to rest his mantra of "appraisers set their fees"....
Anyone who has any experience in the industry knows that this is not 100% true....
And is disingenuous....

So if DW wants to play in the Fee sandbox with a lot of middle schoolers with receding hairline (thanks Renee)....
He's going to get sand kicked at him when he continually refuses to share....
After all that....
To answer your question....
If he gave a fee range that SL typically gives the majority of work....
That would be helpful....

If this were the case....
DW could have said so....
But he didn't....
Because he believes that appraisers, not Fannie, not lenders, not AMCs, and especially not SL....

Do you think he has the freedom to make such a disclosure?

What happens if there are different fees for different markets?
