Guys,

Sorry about dropping out for awhile. I've been attending the last few meetings and the BPO issue is still being discussed.....we need a BPO in hand in order for the board to prosecute. Try and make the meetings! It's just been myself and one other very determined appraiser (he's been attending for more than a year). I'll be there tomorrow.

Maybe you guys can show up next month?

I filed formal complaints on a large BPO provider with both the Appraisers Board and the Real Estate Board. My complaint was directed at the blatent advertising for services (BPO's) that were prohibited for any thing other than pre-listing. The Appraiser's Board sent the guy a letter saying basically "make sure you're not doing these for any prohibited purpose...". It was pretty weak. But like you say I guess they're looking for some smoking gun.

The Real Estate Board never responded at all.

It will all come down to politics. BPO's are a great income stream for brokers who are hurt by the current market and the Real Estate Board has a lot more juice than the appraisers

Dobie,

I've been active in getting some appraisers together in South Jersey with the intention of attending this month's meeting of the Board. I've been to the past 4 meetings along with one other appraiser. (Last month we got an additional guy to show up.) This month looks like we may have 5-7 of us. I'd like to see 15-20 appraisers show up a few months in a row....it would be hard to ignore us. Where are you located? Would you be interested in coming to the meeting and maybe getting a few others involved?
