Note prior owner don’t post here anymore. I really wish govt would do their own platform for appraisers. It makes sense on federally insured transactions. Or get rid of the federal insurance. I know getting rid of the federal insurance is not going to happen.

He may have seen the govt doing their own platform. Or perceived it happening before he sold. It’s possible.

Interesting thought. I have long thought that we should be hired directly by FNMA etc since they are really the ones holding the loan. The banks really don't care about the appraisal since its not their own money they are lending. We are just in their way.

In regards to the government setting up their own platform that would make a certain amount of sense actually. Since they get access to all the data anyway it would make sense for them to offer an official cloud based appraisal software platform. However, now that CoreLogic owns alamode and First American owns ACI ,I don't see that happening. These are big companies and they control the politicians. So unless running a software company becomes a money loosing business they are big enough to keep the government out of it. On the other hand. If they find the margins are to thin on appraisal software, they are also big enough to get the government them buy them out for twice what they are worth.

Alamode is hands down the best. They may even get better now. It wouldn’t hurt my feelings if the govt did their own platform and shared the data with appraisers.
"The best" at what? Whenever I call alamode it typically takes hours for them to return my inquiry. The bigger disappointment I have with them is the seemingly multiple updates they do to the software each month. Why ITH do they need to update so often? The other problem is the updates themselves sometimes cause new error issues in the appraisal program, so they will have to update again to fix! :eyecrazy:

In my opinion its because they never got the software right the first time. I just started with Total a couple years ago. I've never been happy with it, but it was the cheapest option and I thought alamode was in the appraisers corner. Now that Corelogic owns alamode I have no more interest in dealing with inferior software. I think there are better options out there. Right now I am just biding my time to see what AppraisalFreedom looks like.

I have admitted here (and in other posts) that I was thrown to the curb by Alamode., so as you can imagine that experience colors my responses. But the comment that I made came from (1) years of frustration of being told that my computer, my operating system, my internet connection were the problems every time I called for service----and I came to realize that it was always after downloading an update !! After that, I typically waited 3 to 6 months to update. That has never happened with Bradford (and keeping my fingers crossed !).
Second, the reason for being thrown out (in my opinion) was that I accused Biggers/Ala on this forum of mining data. That was the last straw for him.Of course, in retrospect I was correct.
I truly don't know if Bradford is doing the same thing, but frankly now that the Feds are involved there is absolutely no privacy or confidentiality for the appraiser, unless it is an appraisal done for a private client and is not being used for a mortgage, like a tax or estate appraisal.
I don't know if this will help, but as stated earlier I haven't had to reach out to Bradford tech more than twice in the 10+ years I've used the software. Not cheap in my opinion (there should be a "bare bones" option for small businesses) but you may get a deal on the first purchase.
Lately all of the appraisal software is like buying a car with every option the manufacturer has, and that's not for everyone.

I do wish they had a cheaper package that was designed for small one man operations that didn't include all the AMC focused stuff. I don't need any of that.

Alamode is hands down the best.
I think we need someone to explain why so few Clickforms users have problems if that is the case. How many more Alamode users are going here on the Alamode forum attempting to find answers to questions and problems while problems with Click forms is comparatively rare.
