Bye-bye Skippy. Let gas prices continue to rise!

The U.S calls our oil fields and reserves "Startegic Oil Reserves", We aren't drilling there until war breaks out (the inevitable "big one") I have seen figures that the U.S. is using 1 million barrels a day to keep the forces going in Iraq and Afghan.. The middle east could shut the valves off anytime.

We don't have many oil producing nations on our side, except the Saudis. I am not an expert, but I would not expect domestic oil to be the short term answer to high gas prices.

There are a bunch of alternatives
COAL - converted to oil
The Nazi war machine ran that sort of gasoline and diesel for most of WWII.
USA has enough coal to cover us for the next 300 years or so as I remember.
You just have to be willing to pay around $4-$4.50 /gallon for it,
and be willing to wait until the conversion plants needed get online.
Probably 3/4 years -- if no GREEN or NIMBY groups get in the way.

Higher gas prices may hurt us in the short run, but not in the long run. Let's not be short sited.

A good skippy probably makes more on each appraisal that a good appraiser. If I was an LO, and found a good skippy who could make the deals work, I'd pay him more than I'd pay a good appraiser.

Thank you....

Just call me Dr. Evil! Do you know how often I need to type a billion? Never. My finger has muscle memory and it is just used to typing a million for those million dollar property appraisals. Doh! m2:

If you are able to piggy back inspections in an area, or use comps you have already been to, the cost goes down.

That is part of the problem. With fewer orders comming in, and only doing 3 or 4 a week, every assignment required a "special" trip. It would not be so bad if you could do one or two in the same area, but now its go north one day for one, then the next day its in the opposite direction for only one. The cost per report for just fuel has probably gone up three or four times what it was.

Europeans have been paying 6 to 7 dollars a gallon for years...It's time to wake up and smell the oil fields drying up...Peak oil is here to stay. Brazil runs almost all there cars with ethanol from sugar cane. There are alternatives. BTW, the oil fields in Alaska would take 10 to 15 years to reach the system...remember, we don't have the capability to refine any extra oil...how convenient

There is a nw refinery to be built in Montana to process Canadian Oil. The NIMBY's stayed out of that one, but still will be 5 years before its online.
