California PSI Testing Results Issue

Has anyone else taken their certified or residential license exam in California in the last few months and had any issues with getting your "official" test results to BREA? I passed my residential exam Jan 31st, sent all my necessary paperwork to BREA the next day and now I've been in an issue where BREA is telling me the test results I sent them were not official (even though I sent them my original copy) and there is an issue with PSI and being able to see other appraisers test results. So are any of you going through this nightmare that I'm currently experiencing too? On top of that my trainee licensed just expired and instead of helping me by extending my license BREA offered me the choice of sending them $850 to renew and to take a 7 hr USPAP course, reeeeaal nice of them. I'm at a loss as to what I can do here. The BREA rep I've been in contact with said they will keep in touch, but this has been on going for months now and they've given no real updates on what is being done to retrieve my test results. I've actually considered contacting a lawyer over the possibility of suing for lost wages, but I'm not sure if that's something I should follow through on. I've also considered flying or driving up to Sacramento and banging on the door of BREA to get answers. I'm absolutely lost.

I don't think suing BREA would be in your best interests, but a lawyer who specializes in licensing might be able to help clear this up.

Yeah I know, bit of an over reaction on my part, just felt hopeless in the moment, but feeling a little better after my last conversation with a BREA rep. Keeping my fingers crossed it all comes together for me next week.

You would think the biggest states in America could have a functioning website and process but, in fact, it is much smaller states that have seamless and smooth processes for licensing. Go figure.

Hopefully, you scanned a copy of your test results since you gave the brea the original.

Go back to where you were proctored for your exam and deal with it on that end. Let them know the brea thinks the exam results are not official.

around here i would go to ask my local rep who was voted in, to step in and help. around here they have offices who will help you with any problem. you need someone higher to breath down on their neck. an elected politician is the high up. i also like the above answer about the test giver.

Was just curious if you got this sorted out. Panics me a little bit as I just mailed my test results on Friday to them. I tested with PSI too out of Fresno. They did use an embosser and signed their initials at the bottom of the one I mailed.

I have to admit the process has been exhausting. I sent my initial experience and application to them in January of this year. I scheduled my test 2 weeks from my final approval letter...9 months is crazy! I'm curious to see how long it will be before I see my pretty certificate.

1. Always keep a hard copy of everything you sent to the state.
2. pick up the phone and remember that its better to be nice. Sometimes a convo will shed more light on the subject than 1000 emails. Try to be collaborative rather than confrontational. More flies with honey etc.
3. Contact PSI and see if they can shed any light.

Good luck

I topk my trainee over 4 months to even get the approval to sit for the exam. Its not just CA that can get backed up

That's sure to provide exactly zero insight like asking a traffic cop for background information on traffic law...
