Hello,

First of all please accept my apologies if this is a repeated ques. I have gone thru some of the posts/threads and cudnt find much information.

I m getting started for preparing for CA Trainee State Exam. Any pointers or feedback
about Test Prep Software CD's, Classes, State exam sample ques. will be very helpful.
I have finished my basic edcuation through Allied School, CA.

Thnx in advance
-Sam

I went through Anthony Schools. They had as part of the total package of classes one that had a workbook that had USPAP questions, law questions, math questions, and principles of appraising questions. They also (for another fee) offered exam prep class.

Does Allied have anything?

I went through Allied and used their test prep materials. Make sure you can answer all the questions, and should have no problems with the test.

Sam:

I also went through Allied, I took my time with the software that came with the class until I was constantly getting scores of 95 on the tests. After that I applied for the State test, I passed on my first try.
Hint, test center was in Riverside, test time was A.M. so got a hotel a couple of miles away so I was relaxed and not stressed from a long drive

I'm also preparing for the Ca State exam. I know people who say just know the prep CD-rom they provide. Also I signed up for another prep source. www.learnappraising.com. It was recommended by another AF member. It is very good and well worth the $59.

Good Luck

Thanx for all the replies and feedback. I have ordered State Exam prep Cd thru Allied, as I did the basic education thru them as well.

Now studying the material and hope to appear in the Exam by end of next month.

David Hobbs,

Were there questions in the exam which u find in the State Exam prep CD?

thanx again

Sam:

The quizzes that were in the Allied CD (all 15 of them) were part of the state test. It is a random draw of the luck as to which questions you get :eyecrazy:

There were probably about 10 math questions thrown in just for good measure, (these were also in the CD).

They give you 3 hours to finish the test and it will be graded on the spot, follow the guide in the Allied material about taking the test and watch your time, there is a countdown timer on the computer that you will be taking the test on just to play wih your mind.

Good luck with the test and finding a mentor. I've been looking since November.

David

You have been looking for a mentor since November 2004? Geepers!!! I am a Lic. Broker in Ca - and also bought Allied's course. I do BPO's and want to charge more, so why not get the Appraiser Lic. as well? Hey Sam, did it really take 70-90 days to get your application processed? I want to fly through this gig; Allied requires 30 days but the info seems reasonably easy. Good Karma to all!

Jason:

Allied says you can go through their course in 30 days, which you probably can. When you pass the tests you will get your certificates to send to the state.
When you go to turn your application in to the state, make sure you have everything!! It will take them 90 days for the test letter to be sent to you from when they process it. :asleep: They work in slow motion there!! Check OREA web site, they post it so you will know.
I have a friend that needed to have more info on his application, that set him back another 90 days :eyecrazy:

Good Luck

David

P.S. I'm thinking about going back to my old job of welding.
