Choosing Your Business Name

How about "Slam Dunk Appraisals" ? This was really used by someone in Ohio.

Cliff and TE make great points, but the test should weed out things like this. As Ann said, if you have thoughts of selling the business at some later time, don't use your own name.

There used to be a company in Seattle called Budget Appraisals. Somebody didn't have their head on straight. :D

Aardvark Appraisals....I still like it! :rainfro:

Tom Titus :rainfro:

Although my wife might object to possibly being confused with a hog....that would be bad!

Thanks for the insight you all have provided. At this point I might be thinking to hard. I am going to try and not think about it this weekend and see if a fresh start on Monday helps.

Thanks again folks!

Steal some pot from the teenagers, write down as many possible names as you can. Then in the morning cross out all the really stupid ones. :silly:

Roy try these.

Blue Sky Real Estate Appraisals

Manitou Real Estate Appraisals

Rocky Mountain High Appraisal Services.

They fit your area.

"I was thinking something that represents me, my values, and beliefs. I have been googling and surfing all day trying to find some inspiration for a name. For some strange reason, Appraising to pay for Golf/Home/Wife LLC (NOT necesarily in that order) doesn't sound very good"

Your words clearly express what is important to you. How about "PRIORITY APPRAISAL"?

Mitch

Based on Randy's posted test my company name works quite well. Unfortunately it's not an "A" name so it's not first in the phone book.
I think VAL-U-PRO APPRAISAL SERVICES sez what I need to convey.

Actually that name is a DBA, my husband and I have had corporation for more years than I have had to have an appraisal company name. We just made the appraisal business a part of the other corporation.

Pick something you believe in and are comfortable with. If you don't believe in it, then it will be extremely difficult to convince potential clients to believe in it and you.

Once you make a selection, check with the appropriate govt agencies to ensure it is available.

bueno suerto.

I call myself a very hum dum name "The Appraisal Department". What makes my telephone answering interesting and really confuses people is my husband's company. He was only able to "retire" for two months when we got to come home. Had so many calls for surveys, he had to go back in business. He decided to go back to the business name he had used in this area 20 years ago. We use the same phone line, fax line, email address for both businesses. So I answer the phone "Stratton and Associates and the Appraisal Department Jo Ann Stratton Speaking". He never answers the phone, if I'm not here, people get the voice mail with that answer plus "we are not available to take your call at this time, please leave a message and we will return your call as soon as possible". People that call me frequently, always wait for a few seconds to see if the second sentence starts before they say anything because they think the have the voice message instead of a live person. Gets interesting at times. Orders to sent to strange combinations like Stratton Appraisals or to Stratton & Associates. Phone calls get confusing at times too because the caller means to order an appraisal but calls it a survey until we finally realize they are talking about an appraisal. Oh well, have to have some fun late in life.
