How does this differ from stagflation of the 70's?
Or deflation/stagnation (stagflation is probably a good word for it, I remember it from years ago) similar to that Japan's been experiencing for the past 20 yrs. or so. I think we're headed more in that direction.
Aging population. Check.
Lost a lot of manufacturing overseas. Check
Artificially low interest rates. Check

A lot of similarities. Maybe we can avoid it but I'm skeptical. I don't see the economy falling off a cliff like in '08 but more of a slowdown that defies attempts to revive it. Maybe an occasional dead-cat bounce but overall slow decline over the next 5-10 years. Maybe not a bad thing.
