As if appraisers and homeowners in Florida didn't have enough problems, now comes this:

PORT ST. LUCIE — Martin and St. Lucie counties are two of nearly a dozen counties where complaints of possible exposure to the contaminated drywall in new homes have arisen.

The problem may have been sparked by drywall imported during the local construction boom of 2004 and 2005.

Some common symptoms are irritated eyes, coughing, sneezing, difficulty breathing, and symptoms similar to bronchitis and asthma.

The contaminated Chinese drywall may be emitting one of several sulfur compounds including sulfur dioxide or hydrogen sulfide. While exposure to fumes from sulfur dioxide can create irritation and breathing disorders, exposure to hydrogen sulfide can be deadly.

Exposure to 50 parts per million of hydrogen sulfide for more than ten minutes can cause extreme irritation. Inhalation of 500 to 1,000 parts per million can cause unconsciousness and death through respiratory paralysis and asphyxiation, according to environmental experts.

Exactly - and I would LOVE to know WHY we are still trading with this country - to our detriment, both financial and physical. Add contaminated chicken to the list - at least the FDA FINALLY banned chicken shipments. We buy FAR more from them than they buy from us - can you spell "trade imbalance"? They do NOT value human life, animal life and have NO compunctions about poisoning the world with their garbage goods.

Your last statement can't be repeated often enough.

That China drywall is a big issue here in Lee County. The copper in the heating/air changers, the electronics and copper wiring are corroding and the interior of the home is basically unsafe. One builder is ripping the drywall out and doing air quality checks in others. One drywaller said he has never worked with such a poor product in his life.

Was there not a saying that "The yellow man shall rule the world". You need to kill off all others before this can happen. They are trying.

Why are we still trading with these *** oles, We as a country have no guts to do anything else. All that is needed is that we as a people stop buying things that say "CHINA" on it. we at my house have tried, such as Motts Apple Juice. It is hidden so well on the bottle, Its not on the label it is found on the actual plastic part of the bottle with raised lettering. Almost impossible to see.
Our government is not here to oversee things, that we know already.
Its up to us. It will not take much, a few non purchases here and there.

Wake up PEOPLE.

If it wasn't for corporate greed, there wouldn't be a market for their products.

Thanks to our politicians and those that sold them the toxic CDO's. But I am sure the FNMA bailout has calmed them down a bit.
