In case you are getting frustrated, please join the club. Over the past several months, Total crashes without warning and without reason. In most cases, the program recovers, and the reports are workable from the last saved moment, but it's happening to many appraisers using different machines and different versions of Windows. All appraisers in my firm have had issues over and over. We send a tech support request every time.

I've spoken to their tech support personally, and I've been assured they are working on it on the highest levels.

I'm only putting this out here, because I have received no communication from Alamode about this problem and I figure many other appraisers are in the same boat wondering.

Hopefully, they'll find a resolution soon.

What version of Windows are you running? How old is your pc, specifications? I don't see my version crashing but it has been doing a weird thing where I am adding pictures in the Photos tab and I go to add a new picture page and it throws me back out into the forms tab but I am not getting hard crashes. I'm still running Windows 10 but on pretty beefy hardware with no network-type environment. Tell us a little more about the hardware that you are running this on.

I personally am on Windows 10, with current updates. My PC is a custom build this year, and my system is maxed. My staff involve 5 other computers (SuperPC's) and all are on Windows 10. Ages of those systems are all less than 4 years.

Other users across the states have reported the same with earlier Windows versions, and varying types of PC's in ages and types.

There's no rhyme or reason, and Alamode acknowledges there's a problem.

Yeah, shut down anything that isn't necessary and try running it bare bones. Has the tech support had a look at the pc, and found nothing, or have they not remoted into your box?

you pay for that support. If you have time, which I usually don't, you can call in right when it happens and they can do some diagnostics that could help. I guess you could email it or do it through your direction connection. They told me something one time to do when it freezes to download or something. Idk dog. It's over my head. They can help you.

I noticed when I have too many appraisal files open, my software acts quirky, Maybe my older desktop can't handle all those files at once.
Close the files, software, and reboot and see if that works.

I think I have a little comprehension. They want to know what is running when it freezes. They want to know other factors as well. They are trying to figure out if it is some other program running that causes it. Or if it is user malfunction like the computer is out of memory and it just freezes up like if you haven't restarted the computer in a week.

Total is a memory hog. Always has been. Always will be. Don't need much running in background with Total.

Everything you can imagine to do, has been done. Tech has remoted in more than once, mostly for their benefit as they can't pinpoint this.

There are no conflicts in programing, security, or memory. That's not the issue.

The only reason I started this thread, is to let all our appraiser friends know what's going on if they are having similar issues. I'm told there are many who are.
