Cubi Casa - Now It Is Pretty Damn Good

when you all start talking about the perfectness of your measurements, then you will be expected to be right 100% of the time. that is a foolish way to present your measurement. any other professions that says that are 100% at what they do. that's why we all have E&O. before ansi, how many lawsuits have there been about a 50 sq ft GLA difference. now they have the tool to hang you with. you said you followed ansi, didn't you.

Better check your old disto's -My 10 year old one with fresh batteries is off by 3 inches or more on a 30 foot length. I checked it 10 different ways and yes it's off. Now I always wonder how many old appraisers are wandering around with "malfunctioning - uncalibrated disto's. Hell the old guys/gals on the VA Panel around here look like a graveyard of old guys using distos that are 20 plus years old, and cloth tapes that are stretched by 2" inches and hell throw in a old rusty steel tape just for laughs. And we have all these village idiots talking about ANZI is so accurate :)
Glenn, you know newer distos come with online recalibration, right? There are instructions to recalibrate old ones on YouTube. Milwaukee will replace yiur steel 100' tape within 5 years at Home Depot. They last about 3 years with me.

Tiffany you do know sarcasm and jokes when you see them right :) LOL

Cubicasa has issues also. Even with Lidar's it still is not precise. Last I read they say it includes wall thickness. Really! Wall thickness can vary by the age of the home.

The same tools they use on those that did not use ANSI before. ANSI is far more reliable than the round up, round down primitive measuring of those that did not use it. The new forms in 2005 were a liability, ANSI is a liability, the sky is falling, the sky is falling...

By default they assume 6" for exterior and 4" for interior walls. You can override the thickness by letting them know when you upload your video. However, the problem is that their interior measurements are often rather inexact. I am sure they guess and make compromises based on other information sources, and AI.

I wish you could see the "dollhouse" view of the raised ranch I'm doing. The walk out unfinished basement and the garage being attached but on that level seems to have freaked it out. I'm glad I measured it in person, let's just say.

Since I do things with Chief Architect Home Designer Pro - it will generate a doll house from the floorplan with the push of a button. --- and you can of course rotate it up, down and all the way around. But, Cubi Casa integrates the video with the doll house - so you can see the colors, appliances, and so on ( with the junk stripped out).

The problem is that to get the GLA accurately, you really have to have your own CAD drawing. You need the CAD to get the GLA. That CubiCasa floorplan won't do the trick. You could throw in the dollhouse view without the measurements for the heck of it. In any case, I will admit, having the CubiCasa floorplan is both a backup and shows you enough to speed up your own CAD drawing. So, I will use it in the future. The question, like I said in a previous post, is whether or not to do my own interior room measurements - and I am guessing I will do at least a few to check the accuracy of CubiCasa, but not all - unless the client requests it. I will of course to all exterior measurements and the garage and make not of the approx. dimensions of sizeable dead spaces like openings at the top of stairs, heating areas and so on.

Yeah, I'll just stick with Apex.
