Disaster inspection report

Lender asked to do a disaster inspection report. Never done it.
Because there were wildfires in county which didn't really affect subject (50 miles away, just smoggy air), the lender wants me to fill out a form. What a waste of money for the borrower.
In Alamode, I see a generic Form CDAIR. Is this a good form to use or use 1004D?
 
I don’t have Alamode. But yes that sounds like the form. Keep in mind there are two interior and exterior.

If given the choice I would use the 1004D as well. The DAIR is a longer form.

Thanks for your experience. I saw the DAIR and it is longer.
I told the client that I mentioned in the 1004 that the wildfires had no adverse effect. Nada.
But they still want to pay me. Hate to charge the single family mom borrower for this unnecessary work.
 
ask for a lower fee, although i don't think the borrower pays. it's probable for the loan servicing co's risk assessment.
 
I don't believe the 1004d is appropriate for this type of assignment. Use the form in your software.
 
Your also supposed to physically verify the home is still intact and take a photo , even if its 50 miles away. About 25 years we had a train wreck which started a fire and burned up a small area, they wanted me to verify the home had not been damaged. I knew the area and I was like no its not near the fire, anyway I was going out that way the next day so I decided just to take a swing by the home, as I went up the street, suddenly I saw a burned up house, and it was- weird because , 5-6 homes on the north and south were fine, So I accelerated up the street and a similar situation , another burned down home but others were all OK, and finally when I arrived at the subject half of its roof was burned. I got out and spoke to a neighbor and he said yeah even though we were not near the fire , hot embers had landed on some roof and they caught fire. Man, I was like thank god I drove by this bad boy and took a photo, because if I would certified that It had no damage and had sighed a certification I would have been in a big mess. So if your going to sign a 1004-D Certification you may want to consider driving by and taking a photo , and YOU won't feel so bad for charging the borrower a fee for the work you did :)
 
I used the 1004D, drove by the property in five minutes, took photos, then stopped by at my favorite take out nearby.
Got home, filled out the one page form and added some photos to make it look like I worked hard.
Since I'm not worry about the damage at all, I used the easiest and fastest form.
 
Got another. Don't clients know greater bay area not affected structurally by the wildfires. Good excuse to go to the beach this afternoon.
