Help!! What is the exact statute citation precluding the appraiser from discussing the report with anybody but the client or regulatory bodies etc. (not USPAP)
Thank you

PS. an attorney asked me

There was a thread a few weeks ago the got quite lengthy. ( as many do)

This had to do with a two year old appraisal, the lender/client had gone out of business, and the prospective borrower wanted a copy of the appraisal.

As usual there was no final determination, but the general feeling was that there is no limit on the time, (especially for lawyers)

I tend to agree.

Been many years since I was certified in NJ but the situation is simple the licensing statute for appraisers requires that they follow USPAP. Don't ask me to provide the statute # or I will be billing you.

There was a recent Q&A on this very topic and the answer was that our duty does not end because a client went out of business.
