Dissapointed in McKissock

A little math: $800, 56 hours, two renewals if you time it right, $14.29/hour.

I’ll add that the $399 includes a USPAP book or PDF if you take it online. Given that most appraisers loathe the online USPAP classes, and try to take a live class, the cost is a deal if you time the two year subscription well to use for two renewal cycles. Most USPAP classes are $125-150 plus the $70 book, so $399 unlimited isn’t bad. Some of the McKissock courses are getting stale, but I can see the difficulty in getting a course approved in 50 states plus districts.

I have not used McKissock in 5-6 years. I used to use them all the time, mostly for ease of use. I admit to procrastinating ALL the time when it comes to CE. Anyway, I wind up taking the courses in December, and usually after Christmas when things are slow. So one year I was really, really late, and finished up the last course on 12/31. But I was finished before midnight (about 11:00 ish). When I tried to print out/download the certificate, it would not let me. I contacted McKissock on Jan. 2 and they told me "sorry, you finished too late". I KNOW I didn't, and had someone sitting right next to me as a witness. They wouldn't budge. So that was money down the drain; I never used them again.

Our state requires it be taken in person. Some state require some classes be taken in person. I think OK wants you to take half your CE in person

Taking USPAP on line is MUCH more difficult than in class. Passing that quiz twice before moving on is not easy. Have to say, I learn MORE by taking it on line, but what a pain. Better to take it in class and doze off.

And there would be those of us that would miss your snoring--it's what keeps me up!

I didn't know anyone would volunteer to take USPAP in person. My every other year in a live class (USPAP) was the worst day of my two year period, every year..Being self employed with the freedom to come and go has robbed me of that thing that just lets me sit there and be cooped up for 8 hours. AZ recently just allowed it to be taken online for the renewal. Was one of my best days. Never again will I sit there all day having school flashbacks..Ill gladly fight the computer over someone droning on and on about the same thing over and over.

I just took the USPAP Instructor re-certification. It was 4 hours and cost me $295, plus $150.00 to the AQB and $100.00 to the NCAB. I am in the hole $545.00 before I teach my first class.

Same thing happened to me although slightly different situation, but good thing it was after choosing Calypso instead of McKissock. I'm like you, I waited until the very last day down to the wire. I finished my course just after 11pm and printed out my certificate after which I noticed the date and time was for the next day. It didn't occur to me that even though I was in Texas taking the course there was a one hour time difference where the CE courses were at. I turned in my courses anyways with the hopes that Calypso would reprint my certificates with my time zone which they were pretty understanding about. Luckily I didn't need the reprints because my state never even called foul after sending in the originals with the wrong time. I promise I won't wait until the last minute again .... :giggle::ROFLMAO:
