I pretty much just do residential appraisals. I was given an A6 Disto as a gift and am trying to figure it out. (Since it was a gift, and was pretty expensive, I'm trying to see if I should let them send it back. I don't want a nice gift like this sitting in my desk collecting dust and she only has a limited amount of time to send it back.) I am fairly computer litterate, and have decent math skills but the manual I recieved with the tool seems somewhat basic. What i have figured out so far is that to shoot an exterior wall dimension basically you shoot two triangles back to back and get the base length.
Here are my main questions. Apparently you can take measurments and send it directly to Apex or whatever drawing program. 1) Where do you learn how to do this? It is definitely not in the manual I received. 2) Can you make adjustments to the drawing once you get back to the office? Let's be honest here, as accurate as you try to be when you sketch at an inspection, you may be an inch or two off on one side or the other and have to adjust. 3) What program do you have to have to get the dimensions from the A6 to Wintotal or Apex? 4) Red glasses- If it is sunny you need to wear red glasses? 5) Tripod- If I hold the A6 the same place on my chest everytime I shoot is a tripod necessary? etc... I hate to sound like I am not capable of figuring out problems on my own but when you talk to Leica tech support about these questions they do help but on some they are a little vague. Example- Yes you can get the dimentions into Apex. Ok, so how do you do that? And then they can't tell you etc... I really want this to work, I just need a little assistance if anyone has any advice I sure would appreciate it.
