Employees get W-2's and contractors get 1099's - single individuals can receive both in the same year.

You just answered a question I had a bout an s-corp, which is if they provide a w-2 for owners or not. Seeing as you own your own s-corp, I take this as a reliable source. I am engaged in a discussion/argument on the matter in another thread. So, an s-corp is essentially a pass-through like a partnership? Or do you pay corporate taxes too?

1099 if they pay enough to pass the threshold, not sure what the figure is.
W2 is for employees.
