I saw my doctor yesterday and complained about my nerve pain. On scale of 1 to 10, I said 1.
She said to do physical therapy or she can give me antiinflammatory drug. I said NO TO DRUGS.
I wanted to know why I had this nerve pain so I can prevent it from happening in the future.
She said when you are over 60, pain can occur anytime. Every patient she had over 60 have some kind of pain. Implication is that I should accept it.
No, I believe in preventive care (and live to 100 pain free).
Traditional medicine looks at treatment rather than prevention.

I asked for EKG. She said why.
My chiropractor said so. She said did he measured my heart?
I said no but he said I should have one.
Fortunately, my doctor did order an EKG.
It's normal.

Take the anti-inflammatory - OTC - Naproxen Sodium. Same as Motrin.

You probably are developing some arthritis. Normal. I was diagnosed with it with I was 18. That's also why I was 4-F and not drafted into the Army.

A "1" on the pain scale??? Laughable. I live with 3 on my best day. Both knees, a hip, feet, I have 14 calcium deposits on my finger joints. A benign tumor inside my backbone that is pressed against my spinal cord. Add neuropathy in my feet. Rotator cuff injury. Healthy living won't prevent nor change any of that....well, perhaps the diabetes could have been slowed or prevented. I don't know, much of my family had or has diabetes - I can think of both of my 1st cousins (and both skinny) plus their dad (my uncle), 4 2nd cousins and 2 of my dad's 1st cousins with it. More than half the paternal kinfolk - And I alone am the one that is overweight. The rest are/were thin, even small men and women. OTOH, my mother's family is pretty much free of that disease, in fact, can't think of a one.

It's like my cardo doc said. I asked what is the biggest factor in heart disease and he replied, "genetics." We cannot control that.

On the scale of 1-10 your pain is a 1? Why did you go to the doctor? In your 60's....that's as good as it gets.

So, no drugs and you believe in preventative care. Dr. recommended physical therapy. Do you get on the floor and do yoga, Pilates and or any other type of physical therapy exercises to keep yourself together? This is what I do. But... I also take drugs. Ibuprofen primarily. When it gets bad, a muscle relaxant like Flexeril or Celebrex if I can get it.

But a scale of 1.... just rub some CBD cream on there. If that freaks you out, Biofreeze.

It was great but so expensive. Vioxx supposedly was bad for the ticker, but on average I bet Vioxx had less heart issues than does those Covid shots and Fern likes those. And they pulled Vioxx. It's like of like Actos. Great for blood pressure and blood sugar... but some isolated study showed it increased bladder cancer. But you can still get it. And the chances of bladder cancer? I don't think any studies since indicate it is cancer causing.

I would kill for a 1 on most days. But you would never know it. I have a very high threshold for pain. But regardless it still hurts on a daily basis. I play softball during the summer and by the end of the game easily a 5 or 6

Vioxx was awesome! So much so that all those knuckleheads ate them like Skittles and they keeled over so they pulled it. I remember being extremely bummed when you could no longer get that stuff. They should bring it back...

Yup... throw a couple ibuprofens back and keep going.

The main thing is you got to keep moving to keep moving. Once you get sedentary, it's over.
