Most IT jobs are getting outsourced to India. The remainder are being filled by IT people who are way overqualified for the jobs available. I used to work IT, and tried to get back in when appraisal died, the pay had gone way down, and the skills they wanted had gone up, and they wanted your life. Even then, there were no jobs. Tell him to do some more research into where the hiring is - it's not in IT.

Great input.. thanks to all. To clarify he is 25 - and attended NC Wesleyan for 4 years (did not graduate unfortunately but has loads of credits) - and the major he picked.. well... not real great (Exercise Science).

Sounds like my youngest...four years at Mary Washington and all she has to show for it is a student loan payment (and memories of some great parties, I assume). Sometimes they need a couple of years in the "real world" before they are ready to get serious about college. It took me more than a few years, myself. Good luck to the both of you.

If he likes math, try accounting...

OR anything medical is likely to needed....lots of aging baby boomer (whether we want to admit it or not, lol)

Go into Tattoo Removal. I guarantee a boom for at least the next 2 decades.

My 24 year old daughter got her A.A. Degree at a local Junior College, and then earned her Bachelor's Degree after attending almost two years of night classes at the local University of Phoenix branch, while working her regular job. Most of her classmates were older, working adults who had been encouraged by their employer to "get their degree" to advance; or for that matter, to even get hired.

No, U of P does not carry the same value has a degree from Princeton or Yale. But neither was she that kind of student, but not every employer wants that either.

But I would say the school is reputable, and although not inexpensive, at least gives those who need an alternative method for achieving a degree, scheduling options and a good foundation.
