Failed Certified General Exam Twice

[QUOTE="Tried to find John Urubek's prep course but he's not in my area (I'm in Los Angeles) and I searched online, didn't find an online course. Do you know of anyone who has materials from his course I could purchase? I found random sources from different retailers, all claiming that they offer a 100% guarantee of passing. Just wondering if anyone heard or experienced success with any particular resource that wasn't through the Appraisal Institute.[/QUOTE]

I would just call or email John Urubek, check on the appraisal institute web page. Throw money at the problem, buy some more problems/answers.

You are right there, just focus on the main areas again, and strengthen each one. While the income approach is toughest, natch, for a certified general, the sales and cost approach and USPAP questions are tricky. One or two answers are bad within each question, build your confidence in identifying those. Some questions you will not know, as it is also a test of general experience, and the appraiser test-taker has not been invented yet with 25 years experience, a tattoo of ‘under all is the land,’ and whose six sisters are certified generals.

Good luck. A second 74 meant you did not fall off, and the frustrating process is a test of your persistence. You can do it.

Good idea. I'll contact him and see what I information I can get. Thanks for the kind words and support. I want to obliterate the test this time around.

Hi Everyone. Just wanted to let you know I FINALLY passed the Certified General Appraiser's exam last week. Thank you all for your tips and advice, it really helped me out. Man that exam was exhausting! Thought for sure I didn't pass, but then they handed me the paper and said that I did! So glad that's over.

Nice job. Welcome to the miserable but well paid club.
