"I know appraisers who make a good living specializing in properties most appraisers choose to pass on. All it takes is for one really good report of such an appraisal problem to end up in the right hands and you could find yourself running with a different level of clientele."

What's that catchy phrase you longtime AF members like to post every so often....

"No one wants an appraisal, they want to know the value" something like that....

In this case....
Appraisers don't want the challenge, they want the income....
You take your Rolls Royce Silver Shadow to a mechanic to find out what that noise is.

Mechanic: “I’ve only worked on Ford and Chevys but I saw a picture of one of them in a magazine once. Hell yeah, I’ll take the challenge!”

I Got partially eaten by a Great White Shark last week
That's nothing, I was et by a pack of coyotes and pooped over a cliff. (1st liar doesn't have a chance)...seriously I've had a sinus infection since Tuesday and it just keeps hanging on...and 4 reports staring me in the face. I did one yesterday. Hope to finish the next today...

I tend to totter and wobble.
My ex Navy buddy - besides being deaf as a post from the guns, had back trouble, operation went septic, by the time he got out he was worse off than before. He has went back thru it again in rehab recently and at age 73 or so is still appraising with an assistant. Hard to hold the Disto while using a walker. But he's getting better and has no plans to quit.

I don't get that motivation. Sure hope he does not do it because he needs the money, that would suck.
I'd much rather be in a warm place, drink in my hand, toes in the sand.

Please don’t tell me an AMC is handling this assignment

EddieB, Would you be so kind as to clarify your comments. Do complex properties typically not filter through AMC's? [I honestly don't know.]

I know a local CG who is 81, has had multiple cancer surgeries, struggles to get around sometimes, has more money/assets than he will ever spend, has had multiple struggles with and sanctions from the state Board, and continues to work 40 hours a week.

I like what I do, but if I didn't need the money there are certainly a long list of things I would rather do!

Ever ask him why he keeps at it?
I agree with you. Lots of other things I'd rather do than yet another appraisal.

I'd rather ask him about....
"...has had multiple struggles with and sanctions from the state Board..."

How the hell has this happened???
