Fee shop splits

What is the average fee shop split for a fairly experienced Certified? some benefits but still a sub with pretty much full time work.

with no benefits 50-55%, sometimes 60% tops.

Forget about the percentage of the fee that goes to the appraiser.

Focus on the dollar amount that goes to the appraiser.

What's better? 50% of a total fee of $250 OR 45% of a total fee of $300?

An appraiser has to decide what is the minimum dollar amount to be received in order to accept a particular assignment.

Depends on what they are paying for. I've been offered 60% with me paying all my own costs. The shop would do all client contact and have a second set of eyes "proof" for me.



That was during the boom. I passed as most of their clients were cut-rate AMCs.

Nowadays? I don't know. If they had full fee clients, I'd take them up on it. Times are tough.

Thanks for the responses. Just taking the tempature.... moving to an area where I won't be geo-competent therefore I need to work with someone that is. Per the owner they don't do AMCs and have plenty of work. Looks like I will be employed when we return from vacation!
