Does anyone know how many appraisers were on the roster before October 1, 2009 and how many remain on the roster after October 1,2009?

I checked Kansas...All the Licensed Appraisers are still there..for now...It's a good thing because this morning I forgot how to do FHA Appraisals after 15 years..Those politicians are real smart..

I was talking to FHA last summer trying to resolve a renewal SNAFU. I was told that they went from 12,000 to over 60,000 in the past one year. My best guess is that 20-25% were licensed. FHA is having software issues.

Varies by state. I think GA was 50%. Most rural counties there are only licensed appraisers as most home sales were in the $40-$220K range. The CG guys just do timber and farms. I sent a couple over to a CR friend of mine today. MB and HO pitched a fit as his fee is now $700 (Complex property). This is going to be a big mess in rural areas.

Maybe someone at HUD got confused again, and they were thinking that as of today, you have to be licensed to do FHA, and they accidentally deleted all of the certified / general appraisers from the roster? :icon_mrgreen:

One company begged me to do 3 FHA appraisals in rural counties on Oct 30th.Had to get the case numbers quick.Seems as very few appraisers want to travel to these remote little towns.I think Kansas was about 40%.Many on the roster do not do FHA appraisals anymore so we will see what happens..

Good times, I am doing an appraisal where the previous certified appraiser counted an unfinished attic as GLA.....This is as good a solution as the HVCC.

The numbers must be significant, my phone and email have not stopped. Don't know how I'm going to get it all done, I was already booked out 6 weeks.

So are my friends and it is only day 1.

Yeah, I'm getting calls from mortgage outfits I've never heard of. Some give me that "greasy used car salesman" feeling promising more work, yet I don't like to take more than 3 residential request a week. Any more and it interferes with the real paying jobs in the commercial and industrial sector.
