TC what kind of warranty would you toss in with that? Some of us can be rough with our tools of the profession...uh, trade. Hey, I've got some old buddies from Pittsburg in town for a few days, they're cool guys, talk kind of funny, heavy accents and all, sound like TV newscasters. The great thing is they're not picky about beer. Filled them up with PBR and you would have thought they were getting Guinness. Pulling for the Benless Steelers tonight, go Pittsburg

Hey, Spell-Boy, there's an H at the end of Pittsburgh.

Here's the deal, FREE DISTO TO A GOOD HOME!!!

If anyone wants it, drop me a note.

Funny this thread popped up. I have only ever used a Disto. Arrived at a property today and it wasn't in my vehicle. Anxiety attack ensued as I knew what this meant. A dust laden 300' tape my mentor gave me as a backup some odd years ago. Its whereabouts semi unknown. Nervously shuffled my feet to the door, rap-a-tat-tat -- 3, 2,1 and game time. Door opens, explain my business. Like something out of football follies : I attempt to do God knows what with a piece of yellow vinyl tape/string/rope.

I politely gave a rap-tat-tat and explained I am out of my element and need to return in 30 minutes with the proper gear.

Man -- How in the **** do you not use a laser?

What's a disto? LOL!

The ability to employ and enjoy simple drafting skills are not for everyone.

A great and powerful force will come down and take away all Distos and laser measurement devices on Earth.

Appraisers will wander aimlessly and with heavy hearts, from corner to corner, dragging tape and scribbling notes, forever crushed by their lack of technological assistance.

Sci-Fi, or reality TV? You're the quarterback, you make the call!

Disto, paper, miter. Tape as backup. I was provided a Disto last year and quickly grew to love it.

I've never used one, because I find a tape measure super fast and easy, but I have been wanting to get one just to see what I've been missing.

Would this one on Amazon be decent? If not, what would you recommend? I don't need anything very fancy, and definitely don't want to spend a lot.

I don't see a +/- function on it and I'm certain you'll need it alot (TC bait) when you measure a house from the exterior. That particular model is not practical for an appraiser. I highly recommend you get one with at least a +/- function.

they typically discount their prices by as much as 20% when you cal them directly.

Still have my old brick mounted on a pistol grip. Looks like a police radar gun.
