We had a problem with maps here in Knox County, TN for a few months until they were updated. No we can see the new maps. It may take some time but you will be able to view them eventually.

There was a lot of re-mapping in this area over the last few years. I'm glad we aren't having the same issues with viewing. That would be a pain.

Considering that there is some sort of problem it may be best to view them locally at whatever municiplaity is involved. That's where all of the maps originate from anyway.

The FIRMS come from FEMA not the local governments.

All of the engineering work, preliminary maps, and appeals are handled on the local level. So the local municipality does most of the work prior to FEMA actually adopting and publishing the FIRMs.

That is correct.

I've had no problems viewing the Knox maps. Most that I have seen are dated 2007 though.
