My business has slowed down tremendously in the past two weeks, mostly due to the seasonal slowdown of homebuyers in here in the mountains. Come about March or April I expect to see things get crazy again.
I'm taking advantage of the break, because I know if I spend it worrying instead of attacking that list of 'Things to do when I have time", I'll regret it.
Back to doing taxes and painting walls!
I believe you when you say you did not get rich writing appraisals. In fact I do not believe there is a man or woman on the forum that doubts the statement. The appraisal business has been good to me but it has hardly made riches. God bless you for working hard and reaching a goal many of us only dream of. I would love to sail around the world. Dee Dee, I experience the same type slow down. The bulk of the work I do is proposed construction. It really heats up in Spring.
Mostly cloudy with bright sunshine in sight. Its been that way for 11 years. I just had my second best year (number is 1998 like Steve), but I learned in 1999 it was not me, it was the market. So, I never predict what each new year will bring. Just keep bringing it.
January was a very busy month. 2001 was the best year ever, by far, in 10 years for me. At the moment my calender has openings for next week, and it looks like it may be slowing down a bit. Hoping it doesn't drop off too much, I like money.
2001 beat 1998, and I am on track to beat 2002, but my gut feeling is that it will slow some later in year, but on the other hand I have already appraised 4 properties in foreclosure that a bank has got back. I also know another foreclosure where they are simply waiting on a second tract to default by same person to call me and appraise both.
